After using Future on my squadron clear B-17 canopies and windows, I masked them with an Eduard mask set made for the B-17. After painting and spraying the gloss and flat coats I removed the masks and noticed the windows were not crystal clear but foggy. What did I do wrong or can I clean up the windows with windex? The masking worked beautifully but I am disappointed that the windows are not crystal clear. There doesn’t appear to be any sticky residue but the windows are not crystal clear.
Not many agree, but I say Future is for floors, not models.
I have seen dullcoat sometimes leave a very faint foggy appearance on transparencies. Not enough to bother me, though. WW2 era plexiglas was not uv resistant and fogged and yellowed quickly anyway.
Try this. Get a bottle of “Goo Gone”. I buy it at Wal-Mart. Put some on a Q-Tip and wipe the canopy lightly. It will remove any tape residue, but won’t harm the paint. Thats how I do it.

I was thinking about that and since my B-17 is heavily battle damaged anyway, I don’t think crystal clear windows were the norm. Thanks for insight.

After listening to Don’s comment, I decided to leave them alone but I will give the Goo Gone a try. Thanks for the help.
