Masking Models

I would like to paint the NATO three pattern camo on a 1/72 scale M1A1 Abrams and an M2A2 Bradley. Most vehicles I paint are tan in color for modern ones or olive drab for WWII. What is the easiest way to mask a vehicle to paint the three different colors?

mjohnson, i would try silly putty or its equivalent. it gets tight into corners and can be easily removed. or if you need a softer edge pattern, use a mask that you photocopied and then raise the edges slightly with rolled silly putty or even therad glued to the rear of your mask. hope this helps and good luck![Y]

Thank you for the info. I will give this a try and see how it goes.

Another vote for silly putty as masking for armor camo, works like a charm and much faster than using tape.
