Masking curved surfaces

I’m currently working on a 1/200th scale Space Shuttle with ET and SRB’s. I must mask the top of the curved ET to paint a small circle around the top 2 centimeters, or so, of the tip. Any ideas you have about doing this would be greatly appreciated!!!

I know thinly cut masking tape can handle curves really well. Take a piece of masking tape and measure a strip about 1/16" wide. Use a ruler as a guide and using a new hobby blade, cut the tape. You should be able to mask the curved surface without any buckling of the tape.

Worst case scenario, you’re out of a piece of masking tape.

Fred is correct. Tamiya tape is even thinner than regular masking tape and will give a better edge. Also, cut the manufactured edge off the tape first, THEN cut your 1/16 strip, if oyu are making a srtipe. That way you have a very sharp tape edge on both side of the strip.
