Hi, I just mask and paint the canopy of the Finemold tie fighter. After painting and the removal of the kits supplied mask, I’ve noticed that some of the masking adhesivestick on the future’d dip canopy. Does anyone have a tip on how to take the adhesive of? The adhesive that adhere to the canopy is like a speck of bigger grain of dust. Thanks for any tip.
There is a product here called “Goo Gone” that will take it right off. I don’t know if you have it there though.
You can also use the sticky side of the same tape that caused the blob to pull it off. Just take a piece of tape and stick it to the blob and pull it back off. It will usually pull part (or sometimes all) of the adhesive with it.
Goo Gon works really great if you have access to it.
For years one of the recommended methods of removing tape residue from a model was to stick it in the freezer portion of your fridge overnight. Then remove it the next day and wiping the area with a soft cloth. In theory the residue would pop right off.

Sometimes good ol’ WD-40 works great on tape residue.
I was going to mention that also but I was unsure if it would affect the clear plastic.

Ditto for lighter fluid. I know it will remove the glue but I’m not sure what it will do to clear plastic so I didn’t mention it.

Lighter fluid will work & I’ve never had it craze the clear plastic, but be careful cause it will also remove enamel paint. Doesn’t seem to affect Future, so it might not affect acrylic paints, but I’ve never tried it.
Thanks, Rick. That’s good to know. Lighter fluid is strange stuff. Some things that you think it will affect it doesn’t, and some that it should leave alone it will eat up.
