Masking a Havoc

This is the Italeri/AMT/Ertl 1/48 A-20G Havoc with both Eduard PE sets and True Details wheels and raft.

Primary colors are laid down and now I’m masking the camouflage pattern. I’m drawing the pattern on 2" masking tape then cutting it out and applying to the model. Once in place medium green will be airbrushed across it.

why do i always miss the simple ways to do things?..i’ve been trying to do things like that free hand with the airbrush,i’m definatley going to try that way

Thx for the tip Swanny that will help on a B-26 build that Im planning.

Looks great Swanny.

Man, I love the way you pre-shade. I’m still working to get that down.

Thanks but not preshaded on this one, all post shaded.

OUTSTANDING Build as always

Love the Panel Lines.

Picture saved[:)] I will be doing an A-20g later this year and this will come in handy. I too got the resin wheels and raft. Have you painted the raft yet? I’d definitely like to see some good shots of the painted raft[8-]

Ted, you can see a little bit of the raft in this shot. I’ll get you a better image once the tissue comes out of the cockpit area.

Thank you very much! Is that just a bright yellow with black/brown straps?

For some reason I had it in my mind that painting that raft was going to be hard, I don’t know why [:I]

Is the choice of decals still top secret? [XX] [;)]

Very nice work, Swanny. I’ve found I prefer postshading much more than preshading. I tend to lay on the paint too thick for you to notice any preshading I do, and I find postshading much easier to control.

Keep up the good work!

Looking great so far, Swanny. I’m looking forward to another stellar build.

It was a piece of cake really. I mounted it on a toothpick, airbrushed some primer then chrome yellow. The cord was done with earth brown and the whole thing got a sludge wash.

The camouflage pattern is complete now and she has been coated with Future. Next comes some decals.
