I would like to start building my Hobby Boss’ Humber but I want to mark it as the Operation Market Garden Humber just like the one that Michael Caine rode in. Which will be the proper markings for it? Was it a Guards Unit and who makes them? Bronco or Echelon?
Caine played the Lt-Col J.O.E. Vandeleur of the Irish Guards, so those are the markings you’re looking for. Sorry, but I don’t know who makes those markings. Echelon would be worth looking at. If you can find a pic of the vehicle you’re building, you may be able to use one of Archer’s generic sets.
is this an old kit or is it the Bronco? I am looking for a Humber but I don’t want the cost of the Bronco… looking for a Bridge too far diorama long and narrow [swg]
Sorry, my mistake. It is indeed the Bronco’s Humber. I was thinking of another model while writing this query. It is a little expensive but I think you will be getting your money’s worth.
The kit markings include a Guards Armored Division option. If the AoS marking (the red square with a white number that is opposite of the Guards Armored “Ever Open Eye”) for that option is 53, it is the correct choice for the Irish Guards.
