I got lucky yesterday and picked a Tamiya Marder III for under $10, Since I got such a sweet deal on it I’m wanting to know what all aftermarket stuff there is for the kit. It looks like it is great looking vehichle allready but I am thinking about going all out on this one. So anybody know if there is a metal barrel and so forth for it, so far I have seen just a pe detail set so also wondering if this would be worth getting. Thanks as always.
Another Ebay special. How can I guy pay $40 and sell it for $10? Man give me his phone number, I want to see what else he’s got.
Man, what do you want to do with this kit!?
The possibilities for aftermarket stuff is extreme.
K59 (resin) has some extreme stuff for the early Marder III (the one that served in Africa).
Good deal Chris. Even the ones made here in the Philippines costs about 15 bucks.
Good deal Chris! Jordo Rubio makes a barrel, don’t know if Eduard does. Modelkasten makes tracks, you’ve got p/e so you’re set there but I know Aber makes 1-3 sets for the Marder, can’t remember how many. Fruil may also make metel tracks, not sure there either. Anyway, lots of goodies out there. There’s probably more I can’t remember right now.

Thanks guys. I did’nt get lucky on Ebay though, got lucky at the nice little Hobby Lobby sale. Picked up the Pak 36.
Erush- I have yet to actually get a pe set for it, I only found a Eduard set for it. Which do you think is better between that one and the Aber though? I still have’nt gotten into a full pe set yet but think I am ready to go all out on a kit finally. Figure I’ll start trying to get everything together and put it together sometime.
ericadeane- Thanks for the links, those will definatly come in handy. I really want to research this one out and take my time on it.
why was it $10?? I picked up two during half off sales for around 18 each. lol did your hobby lobby have a 3/4 off sale? One of mine is almost complete. Most of the details seem to be present, although just by looking at the box art you can tell a few are missing. Barrel seems good. Tracks you definately should replace because the outside omits the guide holes and the tracks look kind of funny. Anyway, nice find and good luck
Thanks for the heads up Henry. I thought it was pretty good deal to and even asked if it was right but they insisted that whatever the price tag said was what it was, so I reluctantly paid what what they wanted.
On the other side of the coin, the Marder III has trememdous detail right out of the box. After having built mine OOB, I really don’t see a direct benefit in adding a lot of extra stuff. Just my stupid opinion, but your money might be better spent on detail sets for kits that really need it…

lizardquing2,
Sounds like you got a Sweet Deal. I got the same at the local Hobby Lobby on Tamiya M48A3’s. They had two of them. Bought them both. As well as I remember the price was 1/2 off of 1/2 off. Bottom line is I got both for 1/2 the price of 1.
styrene,
I hear what you are saying. Both of Tamiya’s Marder III’s look so good that even if you were inclined to super detail one it would be worth it to build another OOB just to see if there was a real difference.
Great catch, Chris. Way to go. (I want a Hobby Lobby near me!! sniff, sniff!!)
I’ve seen lots of detail kits adverted for the Marder III (I have a IIIM!!). CMK makes one. Somebody makes a shield replacement, etc. Aber will always have way more detail than Eduard. Depends on how deep you want to go. Go to greatmodels and search on Marder III. That should show you what’s out there. You’ll pull up stuff for the IIIM too, but there isn’t too much, in comparison! Some things may be oop already. You can do an e-bay search in Armor for Marder, too.
Good luck

Ok from the sound of it the kit is good enough oob so I might just get the am stuff for something that does need it. I might still try out some indi tracks though.
Sounds like you got a great deal to latch. I just wish payday was today and christmas was’nt next week so I could take advantage of some more deals.
Great find Chris. I just bought a Italeri duece 1/2 truck for $8.00 from a guy in Col.

Chris-
Is this the Marder III M? If so, Royal Models makes several PE sets of varying details! Blast Models of France makes a cool resin detail set with all sorts of goodies, radio set, shells in their stowage racks, with canvas covers over the last row of shells; and a turned barrel. Plus Tamiya makes individual brass shells. Just some more goodies for the Marder III M!

Chris, I did this one with only a Jordi Rubio barrel, the rest is out of the box so it’s up to you. Good detail in the kit, Aber will overload you with stuff and it’ll be much more than the Eduard. Fenders would be nice if you want to do some damage but the kit parts are thin too so heating them and bending would work too. Anyway, just decide how much you want to do on it and go for it! The kit itself will fall together, great fit on it!

That looks great Eric. If its that good of a kit then I think I’ll just go with the metal barrel since I can never get the seams out of the plastic ones. I’m looking forward to building this kit for sure now.
Very nice Eric. Thanks for sharing.
