A few years ago I bought the Alan Marder II D. This was back before Dragon marketed theirs. I think at that time I got this, the 38t, the Grille K and the Bison. Two of those I built and two I still have in the boxes.
I also bought the K59 resin 76.2 PAK (r) and the Eduard photo etched set for the Marder. In the light of knowing that this kit will most likely be a pain in the ass enough as is without adding my first resin kit and my first photo etch set to it my question is this: Would the PAK 36(r) out of my Tamiya Marder III kit work in the Alan kit? That would still be an upgrade from the Alan gun and then I could use the k59 kit with the Tamiya kit.
Really, you should trade the kit or give the kit away with the kit. If you’re like me, modeling time is too short to mess with decades old molded kits when excellent ones are around the corner (DML kit).
Lol. They’re not that bad and they do make a nice model when finished. I hear Dragon has improved immensely since I did any of them. Maybe it was because I was new to building or maybe their tooling weren’t so great but the kfz 250 with the 2cm mount and the Nashorn I did about 10 years ago were about the same in their finer details. It didn’t help that i’d prepainted all the parts either. I’ll keep the Alan but if I don’t hear otherwise I’m using the Tamiya gun with it. The Alan gun WILL go in the trash.
I don’t see any reson why you couldn’t make the Tamiya gun work with the Alan kit. Both vehicles used the same gun, the only issue you might run into is the base of the gun mount needing some adaptation depending on how the Alan kit designed its mount vs. Tamiya’s.
I wasn’t to thrilled about what I found in the box ether but since I had already ordered the AM for it and no real reason to let it go to waste I tackled the thing and enjoyed every minute.
