March 2005 FineScale Modeler

I wanted to take this opportunity to compliment FSM on a very good issue of the magazine. For the first time in quite a while several elements of this issue stand out as extremely informative.

The cover story, “Make Your Own Canopies” while somewhat limited in scope, was very well presented and provides the new or intermediate modeler with a sound starting point for vacuforming plastic parts. A well done to Joel Hamm!

As usual, the annual rundown of the “Reader’s Choice” awards is well done and presented a couple surprises…at least to me. The “Workbench Reviews” are very good - particularly the AFV Club SdKfz 251 Ausf D with PaK 40 limited edition kit. (However, the “AVF Club” error at the start of the article was a bit disconcerting…dyslexia strikes again).

However, probably the best piece of information that I garnered from this issue was the short tidbit in the “Reader Tips” entitled “Sprue Alternative”. This is one piece of information that I will definitely file away for future use. Thanks to David Raatz for including this item in the column.

Kudos on a fine issue to all…

Robert,

I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying the issue, and thanks for taking the time to let us know!

March Issue???
The Feb Poll just got put up!
Man the mails are slow. . .

Don

According to the schedule, the March issue should hit newsstands on Feb. 1.

Admittedly, the February poll was a little late, then (for lack of a better explanation) it “jammed” for about a week and wouldn’t work.

I’ll probably put the March poll up later today!

Will wait for the March issue

Haven’t picked mine up yet, but sounds like a very good issue. Looking forward to it.

Regards, Rick

How do you people get the magazine so fast? I just got the Feb. issue last week. It will be another three to four weeks before I get the March issue. Some people sure are lucky[sigh]

I pay $2.00 extra per magazine to get First Class mail delivery (2 or 3 days instead of 5 to 14 days for bulk rate) that is shipped at the same time the retail outlets are shipped their copies (about a two weeks before the first of the month) .

How do I get it so fast?
I let my sub lapse and go pick it up at the hobby shop!
I got my Feb issue in the mail, (my last) and went to get the March the day I read it was out on the forum. No more waiting for me!
