maquette sd.kfz. 140/1 light tank (pics)

well this is one of those kits that seem like a good idea at first then turn into something else entirely, this is the maquette sd.kfz. 140/1 light tank, Because i love the 38t and its varients this is one of those i had to have, it was built oob with a bit of scratched added stowage, i know of all its faults but am happy with the way it turned out and am glad its finished and i can move on. thanks for looking.

Man your weathering just makes me jealous. I really like this one. Awesome job. One thing I’m not sure of is painting the jack the base, I think it should be metal. Otherswise another outstanding build. [bow] The photo’s are nice and crisp too.

I never post much, since I really dont have alot to say, but I have loved all the work you have done Biffa…as Tigerman says your weathering is outstanding…as always great work

Great work, especially with this kit!!! Everything looks great!

wow!-- another outstanding build-- and i mean that in every sense of the word–your subtle blending of colors, fantastic weathering and attention to detail-- it’s great-- i save pics of your models to my favorites so i can use them in the future-- also, man, you can crank 'em out!!-- lol[:D]— awsome— treadwell[8D]

Awesome!! I am speechless!! All I can say is that you inspire me to do better!!!

Ron.

Another nice build biffa, you really have made an art of weathering.

Very sweet!!!

I have one in the stash with a PE set, an Ebay acquisition.I hope it comes out half as good as this one!!

Wow, very nice. I really love your weathering and finishing style. Great work.

Fine work, Biffa! It looks suitably dirty and grubby, nice one! Not sure about the MG42, though!

Looks great Biffa. How was difficult was the kit to assemble? Was it a pain? Another great build!

Looks very good – very good pictures too! One thing I noticed: the MG42 seems out of line with the KwK 2cm. I thought they were mated to be coaxial. I could be wrong…

HTH

Wonderful! I find exhausts difficult to replicate, but yours is spot-on!

trully an amazing job i like a lot the weathering… thanx for sharing… keep it up

biffa,

What else can be said about your builds that haven’t already been said…U DA MAN!!![bow][bow]

I have yet to even see a maquette model can you compare it’s quality to another brand just to give me an idea?

Thanks for sharing,

Zip

Considering Maquette’s reputation with kits, I’d say you did a great job with this one! [tup]

cool again, you have an outstanding talen

Regards,

Terry.

Unfrigginbelievable! I tried to build this kit but ended up putting it aside. I even bought two of them as both had extremely bad flash and incomplete molded parts. I have all sorts of PE for it plus a Sd.Kfz.250/9 turret from DML, and Moskit exhausts. I humbly bow down to your outstanding work on this kit [bow]

Excellent work. I’ve always been partial to light tanks. Nice job.

hay guys,

thank you all for the great response now a few words and answer about the kit itself,

this statement almost sums it up, the lower hull and running gear were not so bad and went together ok, but the tracks although they do turn out not bad looking to me, they came on a almost solid sheet of flash (wish i had pics) and i almost quit several times.

now the upper hull and turret is where the real pain begins, you basically have to rebuild and putty everything to get these parts together and this is where you really ask yourself if the kit is even worth it but knowing if i put it aside then i would never finish it and i really wanted one on the shelf so even knowing the imperfections i decided it was worth the effort to try and finish it.

now i have seen step by step builds of this kit that have turned out perfect but by the end very little of the kit itself actually remains and the job would probably have been easier to build from scratch and required large amounts of skill, patience, time and money none of which i have in abundance so i decided to paint and weather it heavily to try and distract from the imperfections. (i completely missed the wonky mg T26E4 you are correct and i will try fix that funny how these things show up in the final pics kinda like the painted jack base that went unnoticed [:)])

well enough of that, that thank you all again for the replies and any more questions i would be happy to try and answer.

Zip, maquette kits are probably the worst i have built and there are none i could compare them to but they do some subjects no others do so sometimes i torture myself and build one, also they can by gotten cheap.
