Howdy all,
The last week or so I was debating on what to do since the engine was not going to be installed. I knew a FOD cover was the answer but how?
My mind began to burn the midnight oil and first thing was first, I needed the intake but mine was already installed… Talk about plaining ahead. Lol
So I grabed my other boxed 16’s intake and dry fitted it together and placed it in a vise… I began with tissue paper and then went to aluminum foil…
Both had there ups n downs but did not settle in the way I wanted it to… With the tissue paper at least for me, I could get about 90% smoothness but one corner/side would have a minor crease for what ever reason. The aluminum foil worked great, but how could I have it keep it’s form… After I hit that stumbling block, I pushed it aside!!
I believe the time was like 0130 and it hit me… Find the thinnest evergreen stock I had and a candle… I used .010 and I was off to work…
It took me about 7 attempts before I cut the sheet stock down to about a 3x5 card size and went at it about 4 more times…
Making sure the sheet was heated properly was the least of my worries, having the intake move while in the vise was what got me…
But like I said after multiple times, I think I got it… And yes, dry fitting the cover was done just as a precaution…
Once I am ready to install permanently, I will add some attachment hooks and the lines…
Hope you liked the demo and thank you for your comments!!
