The graphite looks just fine by me? The whole paint job is really cool![tup]
It’s engine masking night! Whoo hoo! Get a beer, throw the dog a bone to leave you alone, put on your favorite taped NFL game and get out the tape!
I wish that I had some magnesium (NO SMOKING PLEASE!) budget is tight. I’m planning on using some steel, aluminum, jet wash, titanium and even some burned iron. Add to that some graphite too. The photo doesn’t have the different engine textures seggregated yet, that’s tomorrow.

Looking good, Cobra.
A word or ten on acrylic wash: apply over a good even gloss finish, same as with enamel wash. The trick, as pointed out in July’s FSM, is to mix in some dish soap with the wash. Yes, dish soap. It breaks up the surface tension that causes beading, it allows the color to flow into the details, and it lets the color wipe off cleanly after about 20 minutes dry time. Check out July’s FSM for details on acrylic washes.
All around, looking like you’ll beat this one into submission. I like the graphite detailing.
