A while ago I saw a 1:72 P47 invisibly suspended over a base representing a landscape as seen from altitude. I believe it was made by revell and one of a range of three or four subjects. I know it was a maglev set up but that’s no easy thing to arrange. Does anyone have details of how to arrange the magnets to give a stable suspension? I’m thinking of a Sea Harrier and a section of flight deck.
I’ve seen them too, and i think the model was restrained by fine clear nylon wire. They had a few at www.modelsforsale.com last time I looked… You’d just have to trial & error it if you were trying to suspend your own kit. A piece of clear acrylic rod would make the job a lot easier.
The revell kits indeed “float” via the magnets. But, like mikeiw said, for stability they also have a few small wires.
