Is testors the only kits made in the USA being an RPM company? Or was that just the box?.. Just like to widen my perspective on which company are out there. P.S. Im not racist, I hate everybody. [:P]
Testor’s has their kits made all over the world, just like anybody else. And, they largely rebox other models, like Italeri, from now closed companies.
Watch out, we’ll get PWB started about evil worldwide corporations. But seriously, there are not many US based model companies left… Revell, AMT, Lindberg, Accurate, Testors… But most of them do at least part of their business in other countries where it costs them less to do so.
So far I have found to stay away from Testors and Revell. They made ok fro rainy day builds, but it sounds like trumpet, hagaswa, and the like kits are the y way to go.
I would not say so at all. The newest kits from Revell (not the re issues) are just as nicely detailed and well building as anything from the Far East and far less costly. Testors, well most of their kits are 30-54 years old from other model companies. They are great beginner kits.
It comes down to the individual kit. You can’t really apply a “blanket” comment to either company. As stated, Testors has reboxed kits from many other companies, such as Italeri and Fujimi, and Revell has, in the past, reboxed kits from Dragon, Hasegawa, Italeri, to name a few.
I always hear…I opened a Revell kit and it was full of flash! I’m glad to hear that all kits are good, cause I like to buidl them all.
Or should I say, would like to build them all. [:)]

I recently built a 100% Made in USA kit, a 1934 Mercedes-Benz, from a long defunct company called “Jo-Han”. The copyright date on the box was 1965, and it still had the original shrink-wrap and price tag of $0.88! Can’t get those any more!
Yeah we could make a long list of defunct US based model companies.[:'(] I used to love those Jo Han aircraft kits that had options for two different versions.
I searched vacuum formed kits. It makes me thankful for the models that are readily available. Does anyone still build vacuum formed kits?

Got a 1/48th “Grace” Torpedo Bomber from Wings 48 in the pipeline… Vac-forms aren’t really hard… They’re just different. Basically, and once you free the parts, they’re assembled much the same as injection-molded kits… They just take more work to clean them up (Shake & Baker builders need not apply)… Many are multi-media, meaning they also have resin & metal parts, which isn’t really anything different than injection-molded kits using PE parts and resin AM parts… It also helps if you have some basic scratchbuilding talent though, and a well-stocked parts box…
Biggest difference is that your main tool during parts separation is a scriber/X-acto instead of a side-cutter and a sheet of sandpaper taped to a sheet of glass…
Best thing about vacs is that Shake & Bakers won’t outbid you on Ebay, lol…
