Mad Komet Day Hangover

I was looking for a quick fun build as a break from some of the more invovled projects I’ve been working on so I pulled out my Academy 163 kit that I had bought for Mad Komet Day back in January but ended up doing the Huma Me 263 instead. Since no one tackled the 163s for the Mad build (I wonder why[:(]) I thought I would take a stab at it. The rear canopy was a poor fit but other than that I had fun with it. The only thing I added was the masking tape seat belts. Enjoy…

This pic is of my collection of comets to date. I stripped and repainted my old airfix kit while I was working on the 163s. I also scraped out the molded on armor plate on the canopy and rebuffed it. Still a bit hazy but it will do. The Huma 263 was also given a few coats of future and some MM flat to smooth out a rough finish.

Nice collection of Komets!! The Condor -A model that I took a shot at didn’t want to go together without a fight! I heard that the Academy kit was the way to go. Great Job! - Calvin

Nice looking collection of Komets Razor.

I built the Academy version a while back. Nice little build, with plenty of detail, and I really liked the inclusion of the towing tractor.

Great looking comets. what scale is it?
Beautiful!

Nice builds on the Komets. The Acadamy kit is a little gem.

Regards, Rick

Nice job !
I built DML’s 163S in 1/48, and it was small.
Well done !

Your Komets look great

Thad

Thanks for the kind comments guys. That Academy kit is a Gem, I need to get a lot more of them.

Gilmund: They are all 1/72 scale.

Hi,
Nice job! I’m still trying to finish mine. I wasn’t happy with my wing root seams
and refilled and snaded. Now I have to remask and spray but I have to do it out-
side and the pollen is so thick rightnow I don’t dare paint it. Plus I’m still looking
for swastikas but squadron is out of all sets(STILL) and I can’t find any, even the
LHS can’t find any from their distrb. I have the 163, an FW-190 and a TA152 that
need’em too!
Any good job Dave.
Good Hunting,
G.W.

Nice job on the 163S, razord! The rest of your collection looks great, too.[tup]

Great job, here is a pic of the heller kit that i build, i got the academy kit but still waiting for its turn, the komett is a plane with charisma, so i buy another 2, already got the shusui kit of mpm models with an upgrade ( another waiting) , and just done the paula kit of the S model, but i have some problems with the eolic generator, i have o build it again , it looks too tiny,

i have some question for you razor, if you want to do the 163 of spate, do you paint it with the rlm red or use another ind of red, which one??

thanks

Hey Gab, your Komet looks great, both of them. I want to try the shusui kit next but think I will try the hasegawa kit. Let me know how the mpm kit works out. as for the type of red I really don’t know. I would imagine it would be the RLM red though.

rdxpress: Have you tried great models for the swaztikas?

bstrump: thanks for the comments

YEA , rdxpress, try great models and search CONDOR DECALS swastikas for fighters 1/72 they are great, or check the site

www.condordecals.com.ar

Nice looking trio.

Great job on all your Komets. Bryan

THE shusui proyect is another story, the hase was the unique model on the market 1/72, but i try to buy the mpm model, when it come to my hands i saw that it is an upgrade, it has resin parts, and PE , i will check how many versions it has

Razor and Gabo,
Thanks for the suggestion of great models, I will try them. Gabo, the red is kind of a debate in all the references, I just used a spraycan red (Testors would work) and then with a little weatering it should
“look right” thanks again,
Good Hunting,

Nice looking Komets! The Academy 163 kit is really nice, except the rear canopy, which I found difficult to get to sit, and the wing roots, which need a surprising amount of filler. Superb interior though.

Nice job on the seatbelts, using the masking tape.

Mine was painted RLM Rot (Red), from the Xtracolour range.

Then again controversy arise , the red komett was painted for one mission only, anyway, some one says you build models closser to reality but if you like how it looks then it is right on, will try with AEROMASTER RLM 23 ROTT an then will keep it satin finish, but it is a projection for 2006 haha

i have a question, for this model , would i open cannon holes or leave it as it is , and how could i build some eolic generator using those little blades??

razordws , why you wonder why???

does anyone build cometts? or are we alone

this is the academy 1/72 model “b”, build by Fernando Azurdia from Guatemala to enjoy
