Mad Dash for Christmas Sales

I normally am not a sucker for last minute sales but DragonUSA has a sale going on for repeat customers of 30% off their MiniArt, LionRoar, MasterBox, and Panda stuff. I’ve been eyeing the MiniArt T70 for a long time and have heard good things about it and snagged one for $16 along with a couple of LionRoar sets to make it worth the shipping cost of $6.75. For anyone else who gets the email notice, take advantage of it, there’s some nice items up for sale. [:D]

Ho,ho, ho!

I’v had a bargain bonanza on ebay today…2 x early Hetzer’s,1 x Jagdtiger and 1 x 251 Ausf D…all Dragon 1/35 and all for £21.00 (about$40.00) posted[:D]

I still blame you Bill for my recent obsesion with German armour[swg]

Comet,

Sounds like the bug’s bitten you hard! I checked my inventory (yes I really do have an inventory!) listing today and it consists of 73% German kits followed by 15% Soviet, 12% US/Brit/French. So much variety in German vehicles, it’s hard to resist. [(-D]

Wow! I must have missed those Hetzers. I was eyeballing some others, but the price is getting to high. Were they from Canada?

Hi Eric,no they were from a UK seller…I can send you his user ID if you’d like?He does post internationally.

Bill,my stash is slowly being taken over by Axis armour…like you say the bug has bitten[}:)]

You’re right, there are some bargains to be had on eBay - like I really needed more kits.

I got a little too jolly and picked up a Tristar 38(t) E/F, Bronco Hotchkiss, Dragon Jagdpanzer IV,0 , as well as a Hpz 2000 that someone started and gave up on, and AFV Club Scimtar. I was reading the reviews of the Tristar kits on the Perth Military Modeling site, which made me inclined to buy at least one of their kits. I just sold a bunch of music equipment on “the Bay” and had a fat Paypal balance…which lasted only about a week.

Tigerman - If you don’t come across a reasonable Hetzer soon, I’d be glad to send you one of mine. I’ve got the Dragon early, flam (mid), and command versions. I certainly don’t need all three. The command version is based on the early version kit.

In the last seven days, I’ve purchased three DMLs from the’ bay: IV E, III J and IV H Tauch, plus some accessories Verlinden/Plus style.

I truly am my own best Santa. Shame on me.

Thanks Larry. [:)] Maybe we can work out a trade?

Eric - sure thing. Let me know which version you’re most interested in. I also have the Voyager update for Dragon Hetzer 6030 kit as well. I probably won’t be starting a Hetzer build for several months, so I definitely don’t need all three kits. I think all three versions are equally good. I’ve been tempted to order the metal 75mm barrel - they have them at Lucky models for about $7 and they will ship for free (at least it was free when I checked last week).

Okay, I’ll see what’s in the stash.

Don’t even worry about it Eric. Just consider it a Xmas gift. I owe you and Yann a whole heck of a lot for helping me get off the ground with the modelling stuff. I began this hobby from a dead cold start just a few month ago, and my first couple of builds were were really bad. I got a lot of support from all the tankers in the forum, but I sort of looked to you and Yann as mentors. My builds are getting better, but more imporantly, I feel confident that I can handle new and bigger modeling challenges.

A year ago at this time I was still waging war against severe depression. The whole world appeared to be a losing proposition from my perspective. But now it’s December 2006, the world looks real good to me, and I’ve got a cool new hobby. I’m counting my blessings and feel grateful to those who helped me get my bearings back. So thanks … eMail me which Hetzer version you want, and where you want it shipped to.

Larry

You think you guys are bad? Since I started selling built models on eBay I can get away with it all year!

In the last eight months, I have bought $1100 worth of model kits and accessories on eBay, totaling 237 kits and several boxes of detail sets.

They would have cost $2100 new, though…[:-^]

Holy Toledo ! Those are some serious numbers. I started the hobby this past summer, and therefore began with Zero (0) stuff. So in the past 5 months I’ve spent $1057 (includes shipping charges) on eBay for armor modelling, of which $824 was spent on actual kits (40 AFVs) and the rest on tools, accessories and books. I don’t know what I’ve spent at the LHS, but it would be a few hundred dollars. I guess I could consider this all part of my “startup cost”. Fortunately, I balanced things out “hobbywise” by selling an equivalent amount of music gear on eBay.
