Anyone using an external MAC valve on their airbrush? I’m not a pressure gauge watcher (hard to read the tiny gauge on the SparMax accurately anyway) and just set my compressor at about 20 PSI when I turn it on. l then adjust pressure up or down to get the spray I want by turning the regulator knob without concern for what is the actual pressure or dial reading. I thought it might be convenient to be able to do this at the brush and a MAC valve might be useful. I know Iwata, Grex and H&S make them but thought I’d ask about usefulness in our use before investing. Thanks!!!
I have several A/B’s & use mac valves on all of them. Personally its just so handy to turn a knob 1/4 turn vs. maybe 3-4 turns on the compressor. It really lets me fine tune the air when using a .2 n/n combo also
Thanks, it’s that ‘convenience’ that made me think about the MAC valve. Would you mind telling me what brand you use? I’ve read on the web that some MAC valves are simply ‘bleeder’ valves (don’t remember the make) and I wouldn’t want that. I think the Grex and H&S are true valves. Thanks again.
I have a Grex G-MAC connected at the end of my air hose, and all of my airbrushes are set up with quick connects for it. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
Bick, I have the Iwata Q/D & the Iwata Mac valves on all of them.
I have also heard that they are “Bleeder valves” but they still work at dropping the pressure at the nozzle which is all I care about. I even leave my compressor set at 80-90 psi since I have an air blower hoooked in line as well.
ST -Thanks, I think I’m gonna give the MAC a try. My compressor doesn’t got to 80 PSI but even being able to set it at 40 PSI and adjust at the brush would be nice.
DoogsATX - Thanks very much. I hadn’t realized the Grex G-MAC attached to the hose. All my AB’s have quick connects so I’d only need one G-MAC rather than a MAC for each AB. Gotta get one.
