I am building an M88A1 belonging to C Troop 1/11 ACR circa 1984. I remember the bumper number for the M578 as being C91 and I think the maintenance PC was C90.
Does anyone have a reference to the bumper number of the 88’s? This would be prior to the Division 86 program where the maintenance personel were to be assigned to the HQ Troop. We were still attatched to the individual Troops.
Any Troop in the 11th Cav from 1985 and prior.
I didn’t serve in an ACR, but our 88’s used the bumper number A-88 (or B-, C-, D-). HQ company’s 88s were HQ-881, HQ-882, HQ-883.
I’m Like Rob, I never served in an ACR, having spent 4 yrs in MI and then 20 yrs in a NG artillery unit. Until 1990 or 1991 our vehicles were marked as follows on the front and rear: right front and left rear had parent Bn (127F) and left front and right rear was Battery and vehicle number (Sxxx would have been our M88s). When the 1/130 FA Bgd was formed in the early 90s and we were reassigned to it, 1/130 was added to the parent unit sign above the 127F on the R front and the L rear. Trailers were marked the same locations and had a T added in front of the vehicle number (eg HQ T06)
