Sides:You’ll notice the solar panel mounted by the hatch. This is used to keep the batteries charged, all or M-1s and M113s are also equipped with the solar panels.
I hope you are not in an Active Duty unit. If I were your CO I would jump your s**t about that rusting blade. Someone needs to sand blast and repaint that. I’m scared to ask whether or not the rest of the mechanical parts of the beast work or not. Good referance photos though.
Thanks for the pics. I ran into the Revell M88 R.V. this weekend, but it was a little pricey. Don’t know whether there are any differences betweek the AFV kit, cuz they’re supposed to be the same moulds. Eventually, I’ll pick one up [:)]
Thanks for the pictures… Could you post some interior shots??? I have the AFV club kit and I would like to do it with a complete interior when I get around to building it[:-^][:-^]
No we’re a National Guard unit, and that M88 sits most of the time. Unless we move one of our M-1s that we have at our armory. Plus I’m a M-1 T/C so long as the M88 can do its job,It don’t need to be pretty.
Our mechanics once told their track pup that he could have the blade to sleep on one night (because he was new and they wanted to give him a nice little ‘cradle’)… so the guy set his COT on TOP of the blade and slept! I wish I’d have gotten a photo of that!
I spent over 8 yrs operating the M88A1 in the Army and loved it. I also slept on theSpade and the curve of the blade was just right for your back! These things can go anywhere a tank can go and then some. Going through mud or water it was unstoppable, nothing can stay with it. No its not fast, mine did 30mph with no tow behind it but you felt like you were flying from the drivers seat.
