Well, I stumbled upon a couple of photos of an upgraded M60A3 by the Raytheon Corporation. It is an A3 as a S.L.E.P (Service Life Extension Program) tank. So, I decided to make this my next project. I’m using Italeri’s M60A3 tank as the basis for my SLEP upgrade. I will be posting as I hopefully progress with this tank. Enjoy the pics.

I’ve started my project and as always we start with the lower hull. Everything is pretty basic. The majority of the suspension will be covered by the side skirt armor. I did add the extra armor on the bottom front of the lower hull. This is a WIP and more than likely I’ll be sanding off the extra bolts to coincide with the pictures. The ones I posted are from the Turkish Army ‘Sabra’ tank and it has the added gun on the turret. I’ll probably stay with the original Raytheon model. It’s still up in the air. I’ll be building a USMC version soon, though not the SLEP, so looking forward to watching your build for hints and tips.
Hey all. A fellow modeler pointed out that this new tank is using steel road wheels and my Italeri kit came with aluminum ones. Luckily, I have 2 sets of steel road wheels. So I will be substituting the ones previously pictured for the ones on the left. The ones on the right are for the M1A1-HA Abrams tank.

I did some work on the front upper hull. I have to tweak the added armor plates and make some additions and then that section will be done. The rear fenders and deck of the hull will see more scratch building. More WIP pics here.

Hello All. I’ve been a little busy. I got the lower hull and road wheels primed and painted. I’m going with Dark and Desert Yellows for my colors. I also scratch built and primed what seems like refrigeration units on the rear fenders of the hull. Enjoy the WIP pics.

Unfotunately, I discovered that my " refrigeration" units were too high, so I had to redo them. But at least I was able to attach the road wheels, paint the tracks and started work on the armor side skirts.

Well after redoing the refrigeration units, I attached the tracks and painted the base coat on the upper hull. I have some tweaking to do and then onto the turret. Enjoy the WIP pics.

Well I did some work on the refrigeration units and some other work on the upper. Time to attach the upper and lower hull and add the side armor.
