M60A2 (US Army) and USMC LAV help...

Can anyone tell me where I might find a kit of the M60A2? Also, I’m looking for a kit of the LAV used by the Marine Corps. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I know Taimya makes a LAV and a M60A2. I dont know what the LAVis like I only saw one at the LHS, for the M60 I do have one which I havent built yet it looks to be a good kit, it was made with the option to make it motorized and molded in the 70’s.

Tamiya’s M60A2 is ancient but has been recently been reissued. Not very accurate but the only game in town. Tamiya does not make an LAV. Italeri makes one and Revell of Germany reboxes it.

LAV stands for Light Armored Vehicle & looks like this

it has some variants for anti-tank, air defense, artillery(mortar carrier) & I believe is the predecessor of the Stryker combat vehicle.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I’m especially interested in the M60A2, as my father crewed one in the 70’s with the 3rd Armored Division in Germany. Nice to know it’s been recently reissued.

Alright, If you are dead set on building the M60 A2, Get the kit (used unbuilt would be cheaper). Buy the Tamiya M60A3 or the Tamiya Marine M60A1. Kitbash using the best of both. Then get the AFV club track for the M60A1, probably the rubber chevron track due to the age of the A2.

deutschebo, any chance he might have been with the 32nd armored? that’s the decal i have on my M41

So, your dad was on a ‘Starship’, eh? I drove one at Knox once, but never crewed it as such. I’d do what gjek suggested, you’ll get a good looking build out of that. Did everybody see that Super LAV in FSM this month? WOW!

That 1/16 LAV was unbelievable. I thought the picture of the crew compartment was the modelers modeling table for a minute.

I have a starship I’m trying to unload–e-mail me for info if you’re interested.
