M60A1 Paint Scheme

can an M60A1 be painted using the same colors of an Abrams in desert storm?

or it’s really camouflage? is it flat black, olive drab and flat earth?

thanks

I would guess that depends on the setting… I have seen them painted in Desert colors… But most of the M60’s I’ve seen were the standard Army three tone camo…

The Marine tank battalions in Desert Storm had most of their M60’s painted in the overall Desert Light Sand.

Redbird1 is right, Marine M60A1 RISE/Passive tanks with applique armor used overall desert tan as the camouflage scheme during Desert Storm. Older Marine and Army M60A1s were either in OD green in the early 70s, MERDC patterns in the late 70s-early 80s. Changed over to the NATO 3-color in the mid to late 80s.

I saw a USMC M60A1 RISE/Passive come back to Fort Knox from the sand box. The crew had painted thier names and family names on the turret’s applique armor ‘blocks’. A cool added touch if you want to do some lettering!
