Another conversion: This time the Skybow/AFV Club WC 52/51 3/4 ton Beep merged with the Trakz 37mm AT gun. The Dodge needed to be backdated to the early version (didn’t even know the difference before I really started to research the M6 GMC). That’s why you see the new rear section, the alterations to the sidewalls, the altered drivers’ seats and the new radiator grille. You might ask if I used anything from the Peerless/Italeri M6 Anti Tank Dodge kit. Nope – everything is from Ordnance Dept drawings and period photos (mostly found in Allied Axis 17).
I need to make some photo-etch ammo locker lids. My last big hurdle with this kit. Comments & questions welcome. (Click onto the photos for full sizing)
holy cow roy that’s awesome! so the gun was designed never to traverse left n rite? that’s gotta be one tough cookie to aim. i can see why the TD concept foregoed that idea.
The 37mm AT gun was fully rotateable. I just set mine straight back coincidentally. The M6 was taken out of front line service for the most part due to the fact that its gun couldn’t penetrate most enemy AFVs in the 1943 battlefield. Many had their guns removed and reverted to the Weapon Carrier configuration. Some were given to newly formed Free French units as they were building up equipment. Some were seen in Bouganville in the pacific, too.

That grille was definitely the nitpicker in me! The early Dodges had the vertical poles through the horizontal brace. The later ones (like the kit supplied one) had them welded onto the face of the horizontal brace.
