M4A3E8 (76)W HVSS Pictures

Pictures @ http://matt24.fotopic.net/c511839.html

Here are pictures of my latest. It’s the DML M4A3 (76)W HVSS WWll. So far it’s pretty much box stock other than a JR barrel and AFV Club T-66 tracks. I still want to add some storage and add spare track links to top of fenders. I have not found how the T-66 links were clamped/bolted/glued/velcroed on yet.[:o)]
This is my 1st try at fadeing and weathering with oils. I have (and used) only two colors. I’m pleased with the 1st try.
Any and all coments are valued. Fire away!

Looks really nice to me!! Is this the new Dragon? Mine is on the way, great job!![bow]

No, this is an old one thats been stashed a while. And thanks for the coments.

Nice looking build.I built that kit also but havent painted it yet.The tracks sure look better than the kit tracks i used.

mathew9 im not sure but i believe the spare track links were hung on a hanger that was made from a bolt or rod welded to the hull side and the track link did not rest on top of the fender.I know somebody has better info or maybe pics and will reply.

Nice work, Matt! I like the color.
I built the JGSDF version of that kit many moons ago. Nice kit, but tedious tracks! The JGSDF version has the late-style tracks. Lotsa pieces!

Looks great from here. Very nice build.

Regards, Rick

Good stuff mate! one suggestion that I could possibly offer is, well more like a question for you to answer… where is the highlighting? you have a great looking tank there bro, but it doesn’t look like there is any highlighting on it with a lighter green… maybe use the same olive drab you used and add some white to it to make it lighter, not too much lighter and take a brush and lightly apply some lighter paint to the edges of the turret and hull? Other than that, I think it looks stellar!

Looking good!

Thanks to all for the coments and feedback.
The AFV CLUB tracks worked pretty good. For one piece tracks they fit well, with a little slack. Since the attachment points for the wheel assemblies are a little delicate, it’s just as well.
CFRussell, I’ve found pictures of T-66 tracks on real tanks, but nothing close up. I’m hopeing to check out the “Hunnicutt” Book before I put the links on.

CDNTanker25, I agree with you on the highlighting, I used the same yellow ocre oil paint that I used to fade it with to highlight. It’s more subtle than I usually do. The pictures don’t show it as well as in person. I stoped at this point because I did not want to over do it. I’ll be comming back to it with a new outlook when I figure out the track links and stowage.

Very good job Matt! I think you’ve got the right approach about doing the fading and highlighting gradually with this being your first attempt at it. I know from personal experience how easy it is to overdue some of our efforts to highlight and age the appearance of the finish. I think it’s an excellent build, and I can see your growth as you become more confident with your finishes. Semper Fi, Mike

yeah Matt… that’s what I was figuring… I was in a rush while typing that post, so I totally understand… the highlighting really didn’t show up in my pics of my tanks either! like I said though, great job!

matt, excellent job! very nicely done, thanks for the pics!
