M4A3 (76) Sherman DML 6255

Hello,

I just purchased the Dragon kit 6255 which is the M4A3(76)W VVSS Sherman and I want to do the Thunderbolt version that Creighton Abrams commanded in the Battle of the Bulge . The decal says Thunderbolt IV and I read in a review that this is a mistake and should be VI (6). Should I change the number to Thunderbolt VI (6)?

Thanks in advance, George

Yes, it should be VI (I have that in kit here, mine says VI), but the decal is totally wrong. It is modeled after IV whereas the real graphic for VI is alot more like, but not the same as, VII.

There is a picture floating around on the net that was released not that long ago with a good view of the Thunderbolt VI image, with Abrams in it pointing to it on the side of the tank. It also should be the same angle on both sides, up and to the right.

I cant find a link to it at the moment though.

Hope that helps

I found it, it wasnt too far away

Wow! thank you for the link. So I guess it will be best if the model gets a lot of whitewash and leave the incorrect Thunderbolt VI decals off. What are you going to do with your kit?

Thanks again, George

I am going to do a generic M4A3 early spring 45 with the 6th AD. I always thought the 6AD practice of putting the call letters on the side on the side gave the Sherman a certain flair (if not a good aiming point!). I have gotten the pre and post shading done, have to still go some more washing and weathering.
