M4A3(75)W Caballero - Early December 1944

Here are some pictures of my latest build. The base kit is the Tamiya offering, but I’ve done quite a bit of scratch building as well as adding some aftermarket extras. More could be done to it, but I’m calling this one done…at least for now. Please let me know what you think.

First, the worst picture (sorry) - one of the underside of the rear showing the barrel cleaning rods, exhaust, replaced engine access handle, and scratched lifting point pins:

Next, a general shot of the front:

A close-up of the front stowage. The box and oil can are from the kit. The two packs are part of the Verlinden Sherman Stowage set:

A general shot of the rear:

A closer shot of the rear stowage. On the rear rack, the small square can on the left is from the Verlinden set while the box and jerry can are from the kit. On the deck, the rations box is from Hudson & Allen, the camo net is scratched, and the bedroll and tarp are both from the Verlinden set:

Here’s a shot from the right:

One from the left:

And finally, a close-up of the turret area. The .50cal rounds are from Mission Models and the pack of Lucky Strikes with the Zippo are scratched. The bedroll on this side and satchel from the other side are from the Verlinden set, while the satchel on this side is from the kit.

Thanks for looking and once again, please give me your honest feedback.

Very nice Sherman Robert, well done!!!

Fantastic job, Robert. I have been following the progress of this one in LEM and I can say that I really gained a lot of inspiration from it.

Nice clean build, I especially like the helmet on your solider!

Wow that looks great. I like the mud under the rear sponsons. Awesome attention to detail.

I hope to a shermie up like this one of these days.

What did you use for straps for bags hanging off the turret?

Great job, detail is superb. I especially like the TC

This is the quality of work i love to see!!!

Great build.
Turned out fantastic.

[:0]Nice work.

I’ve always liked the look of the sherman, Always the quintessential tank - even if it wasn’t a match for the German tanks.

I used to love playing with the diecast matchbox ones as a kid with the rubber tracks and the tan and brown camo and the tank transporter.

It would be a brave tankie indeed to leave his durries and zippo there.

Love it, keep posting.

I have that same kit here in my to do list. Yours looks great, I hope mine turns out that well

Dave

Great job on the sherman.

Good job!

Sharp build.[tup]

Excellent work

Great work on the Shermie Robert. All your hard work paid off with the little extras you added. Now are you going to add the DML Bulge Sherman? [}:)]

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Rockfall - The straps were made from foil.

Tigerman - I’ve got 2 of the DML kits on order.

Thanks again everyone…

looks great robert!

Very nice build Robert. Great looking model.

Regards, Rick

Hi Robert,
Very good looking build.
A couple of things. One, should your stowage on the front be tied down?
Two, the spare tracks look to be a rust color. Wouldn’t the pads be black and just the chevron rust?
Am very much impressed with the subtle shading and weathering. [tup][tup]

Hey Panther 44: These tracks were all metal. Sherman tracks were rubber, all metal and metal/rubber composites.
