M4A1 Sherman with T1E3 Mineroller Pics

Wow … digging in the closet for this one weren’t we.

Jon - Verlinden - yes … DML tracks - no, I used the DML tracks on my M32 B3

Latch - definite maybe

Muzzleflash - got to love the looks of some heavy metal

Bob - good to have you join us in the build.

[bow][bow][bow][bow][bow][bow][bow][bow][bow][bow][bow] WoW is all I can say. Thanks for the pictures Robert.

Nicely done models, Robert, and a great website! Thanks for sharing.

Great looking stuff, Robert. This must be my favourite Sherman variant, after the Calliope.

awesome looking build sherm!![8D][8D][8D]
how did these things work in practice by the way? were the rollers at the front just impervious to any mines they encountered, or did they gradually have chunks taken out of them?
regards,
nick

The wheels did have to be replaced over time, but I’m not sure how a mine blast would have affected them.

that looks impressive!!!

Thanks guys … this is still one of my favourite builds. Very happy with the way it turned out.

Execellent work, Robert…
Those minerolling wheels look so realistic, that they would be heavy in 1/35 scale!

Regards, Dan

Very impressive, Sherm. Looks real to me. Seen that at your site previously but I still get the same impression.

I must admit though that for a while there I thought I was looking at a giant pizza slicer.LOL.

Maybe that’s why I like this one so much … something deep seeded in the back of my mind.

Must talk to my therapist about this.[:p]

Very nice Shermie, Shermie. All I can think is this thing must have been a real pain to drive. How could you see where you were going? Hanging your head out while trying to steer this beast when you run over a Tellermine must have been a lot of fun!

Robert, your work is inspiring! Most impressive collection you have there on your web site, and that mineroller looks like a really heavy dude.

Gee Robert, I’ve cuised the forum threads but dtill managed to miss this one…and considering how big she is, I’m lucky I wasn’t just cruising in front of it.

This is one awsome build, almost lifelike. Great work.

Nicely done Robert…

One day you may actually convince me to try building a tank [;)]…once I get my Texan done and SBD-1 started, I may try and start up my Katyusha though [:D]

Sherm, that’s AWESOME! I just got a T1E3 in the mail last week and am going to attach it to a M4 (not A1), probably model it after that color photo in Hunnicutt’s Sherman book of the one attached to the Engineers… Was it a fun build?

Ron

I missed it too…

That is simply awesome, Robert. A perfect blend of rust and metal on the rollers [:p]

I also like the netting applied to the Sherm’s front hull.

A+

Sweet piece of work Robert. How do you drive that thing?

Thanks again guys. Really been quite a surprise to see this old girl back on page 1 again. Last time it was there was May I think.

Leopold & Tigerman - she must have been a real pig to try and drive. Can’t imagine rolling this thing down the road. Saw pics of one stuck in the ditch … took 1 M32 and 2 M32’s to yank it back out again.

Ron - You’ll like this build … biggest concern is that the wheels usually are very warped when you first recieve them. Nothing a blow dryer and a flat surface won’t fix. Second thing is, it’s missing the cleaning teeth between the wheels. I scratchbuilt mine and they actually help a lot with alignment.

Mike - be careful … the lure of the darkside is pulling at you.

Jack - thank you for the compliment on my little site. Most appreciated.

Robert,

Very nicely done. I’m totally impressed with the metal finish on the mineroller, etc. It just looks great!
I’m sorry I’m so slow at posting my accolades to you, but I haven’t been able to get on to the forum here at work (I DID NOT say that!) since Christmas, so have been looking hit or miss from home. Today, I was able to get back on! YEA! (Hopefully, it won’t go away again!!)…Again, I’m impressed, as always, with this model and with your site. Thanks for sharing it/them. I’m glad this post “bubbled” back to the top!

Have a good night.
