M4A1 Sherman w/white wash pics "FINISHED"

Well here’s my entrance into the dark side of the forums.[6]

This is Tamiya’s 1/48 M4A1 Sherman. Being built OOB. I did scratch build the turrent interior but couldn’t get a good shot of it. I airbrushed the tank OD first, then airbrushed my own mix of white and light gray. I then took an exacto knife and started scratching away.

The weathering was done by taking real dirt and wetting it. I then applied it liberally to the lower hull and the bottom of the upper hull. When that dried I dry brushed Testors Flat Tan paint to give the look of dried mud.

I still have some touching up to do but other than that it is pretty much finished.

Comments and criticism welcome.[:)]

Very nice!

Not bad for your first step into the dark side.MMWWWAAHHHAAAHHHAAAHHHHAAA.[H]

Thanks guys.

I should be able to have some time at the bench tonight so it should be finished by tomorrow.

I’ll have some better pics too.[proplr]

Hi Jet

Looking very nice… the dirt and crud really add to it.

Thanks for sharing the pics!

Bill

[Y] Nice work, very well done!

Thanks guys. Much appreciated.[t$t]

Well here’s the finished picture as promised. [cmra]
I added an antenna but it popped off just before i took the pictures.[:@] I added a second strap to the rolled blanket on the side of the turrent, and did some highlights to it.

As usual, all comments and criticism welcome.[:D]

Welcome to the darkside! Nice job on your first…many often wait a while before tackling a whitewash scheme but you’ve jumped in with both feet and produced a solid result. [Y]

Great work! The weathering and mud look very convincing, I can see her in my mind splattering her way though slush and mud during the spring of '45.

Jetmodeler, welcome to the Dark Side. [:D] Your Sherman looks awesome especially the weathering treatment. Well done! [Y]

~Bill~ Thanks. It sure wasn’t easy. I had to redo the whitewash 2 or 3 times before it got the look I wanted. After the “practice”[:D] I finally got the right look.

~Gamera~ Thanks. Really appreciate it. Thats how I was hoping it turned out.

~Andy~ Much appreciated. Glad you like it.
