M41 "Sales Tool"

LOL guys, now I’m thinking of the Korean Western ‘The Good, The Bad, The Weird’ which she kinda is all of them [:P]

You’re really hitting on all cylinders with this build. I really enjoy seeing what you’ve done.

This continues to confirm my thoughts that this kit is really worth its cost and will be a good tank kit for the beginner and expert.

Yes indeed. Seeing all the different parts you added in their original plastic color really shows all the great work you’ve done here. I can’t believe that I haven’t checked this post out sooner, although I have been busy with two (2) projects of my own. Excellent work so far RBaer. this is really exceptional.

Thanks all! At tthe risk of sounding like a broken record, I like this kind of modeling, a lot.

I have pretty much everything done now, maybe except for tow cable brackets and a cable, so primer is in my future.

I was thinking about how to do the muffler heat shields and thought I’d try thinning a kit part, just to see if it would work, and it actually came out nicely. I did the other side, trimmed them to the correct depth and moved on. The tool rack is an extra from a DEF M47 set, tools out of the spares.

I was thinking if you had some PE, it might look more realistic. Just my 2 cents. This is coming out really well. Looking forward to the painting, weathering and finish product.

Yeah, she’s coming along nicely!!! Have you decided on how you’re painting her yet? Green would be nice but I’m thinking MERDC would look fantastic! I’d be half tempted to paint a grinning shark mouth on the lower half of the wedge shaped turret!

Shark mouth would be nifty, but at this point I’m either going for solid green as tested by the US or the hull solid green with the turret in a mottled brown over green as tested by the Thai Army. I’m in a group build on another board, the theme being “best tank that never was” so I’m trying to do it as factual as I can, although it’s real tempting to do this scheme:

I forgot to get pics but before I shot the green on it I made up an aux muffler and finished the gun travel lock. I’ll get pics up asap.

The “tool” is all green now, next step is a shot of clear so I can add markings. No rush there, I’m still not sure of the final scheme.

I’ve done a little detail painting but there’s just not that much to this thing. Tracks are also being painted.

While I was pondering my next steps, both with this thing and a Challenger 2 I’m working on, I had a brain storm. A while ago I bought a Cheiftain Marksman, mainly becasue it was cheap and I thoght the Marksman turret might come in handy one day, shelved it and forgot all about it, except for when I needed the gun tube, oddly included in the box even though no other turret parts were. Sitting in front of my on the “lazy Susan” I keep ongoing builds on that I’m not actively working on was the original M41 hull I started for the Stingray build, with an M48 turret stuck on it, mainly for kicks. Thinking I had something, I quickly assembled the basic Marksman turret, stuck the base of an M41 turret ring on it and by golly if it didn’t make me laugh out loud. It’s also a good fit, so I’ll be working on it as well. Think Sid from the “Ice Age” movies…

The green looks great!!!

That Marksman turret looks insane though!

I like the new format! Now that it’s operational, I can post a pic of the finished “tool”. I kept it clean as it would be and is in the pic I have.
