Just Added Decal Next Project Wash and Dirty it UP[#toast]

Bushi, nice looking Sherman you’ve got there! Looks like 1/48 scale…Tamiya? Overall it seems to be a solid build, basic construction is strong, nice OD paint job, and the details painted correctly. However I noted a couple of minor errors:

The hull hatches appear to be upside down. Actually the right side hatch should be flipped over and put on the left side and vice versa. Should be an easy fix?

Looks like you drybrushed a silver color on the chevrons on the tracks, or maybe a light gray? If its a steel color be advised that these Sherman chevron tracks were rubber with only the end connectors steel. Maybe drybrush a dark gray over the steel paint and drybrush the end connectors with steel?

The brush guards over the headlights are missing, but maybe you didn’t want to add them? Are you going to put some markings on it? I think some numbers and a star or two would make this look better!

Hope this helps!!

Thanks for the comments bufflehead. It is a Tamiya 1/48. I tried the hatches the way the direction showed for the use of the periscopes in use and the hinges appear to be in the wrong place. Hence why I put them on this way. It I had look at the Sherman at War a little closer I woud have done them closed or tried to cut out the periscope. a showed them open the way they should be when open. Live and learn.[banghead] As far as the tracks it seems that later between 1943 and 1944 some crews ask in Sicily and Italy for the steel track and also the rubber with the chevrons. There was rubber shortage going on then.

I just put the clear coat on last night, so hopefully I will get marking on by Tues. Or Weds. Then I can start the weathering.

Thanks again for the Comments.

Jeff

Bushi, you’re first build looks a million times better then my first build. Can’t wait to see it weathered! [8D] Hope you plan on doing a wash, to bring out the details.

Thaks alot mg.mikael, I just finished doing the clear coat last night. I hope to put the marking on Tues or Weds. Then I will wash and dirty it up using pastel. I think I might do a winter whitewash on it also. I am vey please so far. I hope that my build for the Lend Lease goes as good.[:D]

Jeff

Bushi you’re correct about there being all metal tracks. It just so happens that the Tamiya kit includes T-48 all rubber chevron tracks. They are physically different in appearance than the all metal ones. Good luck to you

Thank for looking Roy, and the info. I guess I thought that the one war time color photo was rubber with steel together. My mistake. Again thanks.

Jeff

Looks good so far Jeff. I do think the shovel is too bright. Aluminum colored? I would go over it with black and then highlight with steel.

Thanks tigerman[:D] I did paint in black then dry brushed with steel. I think the flash on the camera was set on high flash instead of low. Hence the brightness of the shovel. Thanks again.

Jeff

Nice job on those decals. Now dirty this Sherman up![:D]

The guys already pointed out a few things. This being the first build I will say you are doing well. Now the weathering is what will really make it shine.

I’ll be watching!!

Rounds Complete!!
