M26a1 Pershing, DML, complete

This is for my Korean War GB entry.
My camera was not available, and unfortunately, I had to make do with what I had available. I apologise for the really poor quality of the pics, nuff said about that.
The kit is out of the box, with just some spares box stowage added, and a few pioneer tools. Painting was witha basecoat of MM Olive Drab out of a rattle can, with post-shading done with MM Acryl OD with Tamiya Buff added in. First attempt at an oil colour wash, and again through the poor pictures, the result cannot be seen that well, but I was extremely pleased, and will be sticking to oils for my washes from now on.
The kit went together fairly well, mud mixture is just that; mud.
All comments welcome.

Looks pretty good from what I can see in the pics. Only one issue I see. Your tracks are on backwards. The chevron or U shae should point doen in the front, not rear. Looks like the inner raod whells do not have a rubber tire on them as well, they look all OD. Tools look way too shiny too. Try a dark metal color, same as you would use for weapopns and then drybrush with some dir/rust colors. Track look too shiny for that much mud too. Try toning the silver down so just the top ridge of the chevron is bare metal.

Thanks for the comments GIno. SOme good pointers in there. My stupidity with the tracks. So far, out of the few DML kits, I’ve yet to have one where I didn’t have a track problem, usually with my own dumb self [:p]
Not sure why the pic looks like that, but the roadwheels are painted both on the inside and outside, as can be seen with the spare one on the back of the tank.

Thanks for the comments, it’ll allow me to make some good changes [:)]
The tracks, I dunno, I may have to hold off 'till I can afford another set, as turning these around will just wreck them if I just try to fit them on.

Good-lookin’ build, Zok!
Gino has pretty much covered all the bases already. Bummer about the tracks, but hey, those things happen!

Zok, the post-shading is very effective. Looks like a pretty effective build. Bummer about the tracks, but really, you’ll be the only one whom notices. [;)]

Great shading. I’m going to try the Buff mix.

I’m going to building a Tamiya M 26 soon, I’ll try to remember to get the tracks (rubber bands) on correctly. With me, there’s no guarantee that’ll happen.

One question on the pioneering tools; weren’t they stowed in the boxes instead of externally? If they were stowed externally, I haven’t seen them depicted like this anywhere.

Great job on the build.

[:0], WOW! THAT is nice[tup][tup][tup][tup][tup], don’t feel like the lone stranger 'bout the tracks[;)]. One day soon I will be building that tank, from DML also. Even though I am just a newb at this, I also have seen the difference between DML and “all the rest”. I bought a Tamiya King coupla weeks ago, paid right at $40-45 bucks for it, totally basic model, yesterday I got the DML 3-1 King, it was marked at $34.00, well, to top that off, it just so happens Hobby Lobby is having a 40% off one item per day sale[:0][:D]!!! And I know I don’t have to tell you ‘bout all the goodies that come with the DML kits[wow][yeah][party]!!! LMAO. Anyway, to get back to the topic, I consider your Pershing a threat!![;)], I am going to have to work extra hard just to get kinda in the same ball park as yours, and especially after you take care of all the little stuff HeavyArty mentioned, (don’t blame you for not touching the tracks). Your paint and shading techniques are awesome![bow]
Man, [:(!],makin’ me work harder to try to do better,(mumble, grumble, kicks pebble on ground,“ouch!”[censored]) LOL. Slow down so I can catch up!

Keep up the great work big guy,

Bill

looks great zok love the fading and weathering very nicely done, dont ya love those oil washes, im addicted, have to make myself stop while its still possible to see the underlaying paint job.

Looks good. My only criticsm (aside from the track direction) is that the rubber on the road wheels seem inconsistently clean in relatation to the dirt on the rest of the tank. I think a light brown wash would make the black look a lot more like dirty rubber and kind of tie the whole thing together. Nonetheless, that’s a fine build.[tup][tup]

Great job! The mud looks good!

Can’t add any more then whats been said so far. Love the paint job you did.

How were the tracks to build? I have the kit and the tracks look a bit intimidating.

That looks very nice and profesional.

You did a great job Zok. The pics are a bit dark but I can see the model just fine.

subfixer, you’re right, they were stored in the toolboxes, but the model looked so bland, I just added them there for the sake of visual flair. Call it a bit of artistic licensing [:p]

Anywhoo, thanks for the comments guys, really gives me something to work with [:)]

Well done Zok! Dang tracks will drive ya nuts sometimes, but you’ve sure done a heck of a job on the remainder of your Pershing. Thanks for sharing. Semper Fi, Mike
