Went to the LHS today because yesterday I saw the Dragon Tiger I late model. So I get there first thing this morning and guess what. Ya it’s gone. Oh well I start looking over their other tanks. I want to try other brands other than Tamiya and I was thinking maybe Trumpeter might have something. I found a M1A1HA Abrams for $18.00! Ok I know this is probably no where near top of the line but I figure what the heck at that price it will be worth the experience. Plus I came back home with $19.00 more than I planned! So has anyone built this tank? Any tips, or pointers?
Not a bad kit by any means, but not the best around either. Here is a link to the Abrams tweaks list. It is a downloadable pdf file that gives some info on what to fix.
Hope you have patience friend, it definately wasn’t one of the builds I’ve ever done. Nice details, but inaccurate sizes and bad fit. Get a big tube of putty.
As for Me I didnt care for it , it had way to many fit issues to keep my patience at a controlable level, even worse than the Dragon kit, but it does build into a pretty good replica, not a bad buy so don’t be ashamed just expect something harder than a tamiya kit.
Well that was kinda the idea. I have built aircraft models most of my life and I like to find alittle challenge. I wasn’t that way with armor because I just started building armor about a month and a half ago. Now I’ve got a little bit af an armor stash going, mostly Tamiya early kits and I have started a couple and now I feel comfortable looking at the more challenging (cheap) kits. Now I know what they mean when they told me Tamiya are shake and bake kits. So I am still looking forward to checking out other kits. Ya know what I mean?
