Have you all found any good sites for reference M1A1 pics? I’ve tried my old trusty stanby fas.org, but they are less than inpiring. Hope to find more recent pics, especially during OP Iraqi Freedom.
Thanks,

Try a search on Google.

Check out Major Gronovius’ site! REALLY good detail shots, both inside and out. Any one of his posts has the link to it!
Midnight - been there, tried that
That’s why I posted the request here. I wasn’t able to find anything of value, especially when trying to decpher markings and detail.
Cobra - thanks for the heads up. There are some decent photos in there, but I was hoping to find some up-close-and-personal pics, like the ones you can find on the Airforce website of their aircraft.
Gotta be some recent news photo sites out there with good photos of M1s.
if u havent bought a refence book by one. several brands make them. go to a website like www.squadron.com and search it.
Junior - thought about that, and I may still do it, but I’m interested in the latest pics, such as those from OP IF. I’d like to detail them with as much attention to contemporary detail as possible. I do have some reference books (mostly for aircraft), but my experience with those books is that they are great for early-90s-and-before periods. They don’t seem to update them that often. A search on Amazon only revealed one such book. Published in 1991.
Here is a good start. Our gallery.

If you find some better ones, feel free to upload them for the rest of us here.
Snacko,

I’ve put up some more photos if anyone’s interested.

This link should help:
I have several pictures of M1’s during OIF that I have downloaded. If you want any of them let me know and I’ll e-mail them to you.
Excellent guys! You hit the nail on the head ![]()
Thanks again!
Another good place to look is www.armytimes.com the pics are updated daily and they have a good supply of pics from the war. Great resolution too. Hope this helps.
Try doing a Yahoo search for M1A1. When you get the results look at the top of the page and click on “images”. Instead of surfing whole sites Yahoo gives you thumbnails of images matching M1A1 from thousands of sites…
I just did it while typing this and found dozens! of pics.
My Local club has some really good M1 Abrams reference articles. And plese feel free to look around the rest of the site.

Thanks,
Dustan
Dustan, click on the link in my signature block. It will take you to my gallery with photos of a couple of tanks I have sitting out my window.
Major G,
Quick question for ya. Would you happen to have any photos of an Abrams bogey disassembled? The reason I ask is I’m modeling a particular tank from TF4/64 in Baghdad under the crossed sabers monument. One of their tanks stopped to change a bogey. I’ve got a great shot of it with the rear right armor skirt open and the new bogey resting against the front of the right track. I’m hoping to replicate it in a diorama, but have no clue how to model the bogey being changed.
Thanks!
