M1A1 Abrams

Cool. Which kit is that?
Lee

Looks good Chris. Few painting points, the road wheel hubs on an M1 series tank are clear plastic and the dark oil inside shows through. Look through the bottom of a plastic bottle full of cola to get an idea of how to represent the cap with paint. Second, the grills on the back deck of the tank are air intakes for the engine, oil and transmission coolers. They don’t get black from any type of exhaust, in fact they tend to suck dust and sand so are normally kind of dusty looking. Lastly, the skate ring the loader’s 240 is mounted on is a dark steel color. It is never painted.

Very nice job on the tank.

it’s the Tamiya kit, i will keep all that in mind as i was looking to do a mine plow version. Thanks for the heads up!!!

what color did you use?

Nice work Chris. Thanks for sharing the pic.

Good looking tank and great website.

Mike

Thanks, i used a dark desert yellow, It may seem kinda dark but it looks ok. Im going to try to do a better one with the next M1A1

Do you have a M-1 kit you’re willing to part with?
Lee

Built or Unbuilt?

well, out of all the pics i have of M1A1’s in the desert one thing is true. not one of them has the same color. or at least thats the wau it seems. I’ve ssen them almost white. Some yellow, some even dark red/brown. I was just looking for a exact type IE, modelmaster golf war desert alied sand armor hue back drop of sun setting light war dirty and waren yellow or something like that. If modlemaster is your thing. Or Buff if it was Tamiya paint…
