I have an question about the M151A1 service life in US service. I am building the Academy kit of the A1 and I am curious to know if it stayed in service so long that it also got the MERDC camouflage in the middle of the -70’s. Or was it phased out during that period and didn’t got this at the time new camouflage.

No, the M151A1 was phased out and replaced by the M151A2 in the early '70s (starting in '72). They were pretty much all gone by the time MERDC came around.

Thanks for the quick response. Was as I said curious to find out if there was something else than overall OD for an US vehicle.

But OD is not as bad either.

When I joined the Guard in 1983, we had one M151A1 that was painted overall pale (faded) forest green. It was actually a pretty good little truck.

We still had A1’s when I left the 7th Army in '74. No camo… in the very dark (almost black) green of the times. Black stars with large white bumper numbers.
