What was track color of standard M113 used in Vietnam?
Nearly fininshed 1/35 Academy kit.
Need track color…!
Thanks Robert
Rust. Seriously, they were bare metal with the pads rubber black. They rusted badly in the damp environment, especially in monsoon season. The areas that make contact with the sprocket and road wheels such as guide teeth will still be polished steel and devoid of rust though.
[:D] rust red is what you want.[:D]
As simple as that!!!

Sorry, hold up guy’s. Are you building a model of a vehicle that is sitting or moving. The tracks will rust very fast (turn orange over night) BUT said rust will be worn foff and they will be bare steel in a matter of 2 hours (or less) driving time. Sand, grit and mud make very effective, though crude and coarse polishing agents. Moving, driving tracks will always wear faster than they can rust even driving trough salt water on a beach.
I know this, I am a current tank crewman with the National Guard and a generic armor mechanic (113’s included) with the feds.
This is true, but most vehicles you see from Vietnam ear are still pretty rusty after minimal use and most vehicles modeled from this era are in static positions and are very rusty.
