does any one know if the m108 was used in desert storm 1? and if any of the middle east countries use them at all[:D][:D]
The M108 didn’t see use past the Vietnam war. The 155mm armed M109 was developed simultaneously and the greater range of the 155mm gun caused the 105mm M108 to be cancelled in 1963. I think old M108s were upgraded to M109 standards. Most of the US M109s were M109A4 and A5 during Desert Storm.
thanks rob thats what i thought but wasnt sure. oh well looks like my m108 well get the od piant scheme put on it to wear[:D][:D]
Hey Ga.modeler,
Don’t forget that the M108 usually had the semi gloss OD… the old guys I knew when I first joined told me they used to ‘oil’ the dull paint to make it shine, but I don’t know how true that is. Sounds like something they’d do though! When I went to Fort Sill, they were still training on M109 A- nothings. With a locally approved two part color scheme of OD and tan… No M108’s in 1975 either. 105mm was all towed.
Modelmaster Dark Green with semi-gloss over it is a pretty close match to the origninal color, which really made those old white stars stand out.
Ron.
