M103A1 HEAVY TANK

The main part of the lower hull is done and a first coat of paint applied. Next wheels and sprockets.

Hello!

That looks good, I especially like theshed of OD you took. Just watch out for one issue - just yesterday I read about that when you put the exhaust shroud on the rear deck, you run into a problem to install the turret. Please try to dry fit the turret base now to verify that everything is OK. Good luck with your project and havea nice day

Paweł

Very nice Dark OD for the Cold War shade! Which paint did you use for that?

It is combination of Tamiya colors. One part Nato Black and two parts Black Green.

Terry

Yes the turret interferes as it rotates.

Beginning to look like a tank.

Terry

Hello!

That’s a beast, ain’t it? Can’t wait to see what you are going to do with it. Good luck with your project and have a nice day

Paweł

Still plugging along and thanks Pawel!

Terry

Yeap a beast she is! Great job and please keep the photos coming!

Looks real good, nice progress.I know some people absolutley hate this kit, there was a whole thread on Amorama trashing it.Butno problems here, enjoying your build of a diffrent subject for sure.

I wouldn’t say the post on Armorama is “thrashing it”. The kit is very inaccurate and has a lot of issues. The Armorama post shows those shortcoming and how you can correct them if you choose to. It is a lot of work though.

If you just want it to look sort of like an M103, you will be satisfied. If you are striving for an accurate representation of an M103, out of the box, this kit will not get you there.

Now that is an impressive vehicle- can’t wait to see what you’ve got in store for this one!

Thanks for looking in!

I decided I didn’t like the rubber band tracks so I’m replacing them with AFV workable tracks.

Terry

Cool Terry, will you require two sets due to the M103 being a stretched M48 hull?

I don’t think so. There is enough for a M88 and it is stretched. We will find out soon enough.

Well there were enough tracks in the AFV set to do the 103 with tracks to spare.

Started outfitting the turret.

New springs for the loaders hatch.

Beginning to add welds to the turret.

More to come.

Terry

Cool details. I’ll have to use your post for when I do mine!

Looking good so far, Terry! Don’t worry about those “inaccuracies” too much—it sure looks like an M103 to me!

Nice work Terry, love the added detail and good to know there are more than enough track links- guess I worry too much!

Don’t worry I’m not and thanks.

Terry

Just have to have a little faith.

Thanks!
