M1 Assault Breacher Vehicle 1/35

Yes, it is an actual vehicle. It is used to breech mine fields.

More info here.

Humm…somehow I missed this one [bnghead]… OUTSTANDING scratch work… love it. Nice detail work

A well deserved award

Rounds Complete!!

IMPRESSIVE.

The scratch building is quite good but I think the final paint job seems a little monochromatic. The beautiful model would have benefited from a littlte preshading adding slight variations in the color.

If you decided to offer a conversion kit, please let us know. I am sure I speak for several builders here wen I say, “I would buy one.”

Good morning Brother, as you can see I had to change my screen name. First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!! on the award, very well deserved, i do believe it is the best model I’ve seen. I appreciate you taking your time to reply to my post and of course about thinking about me first for the next ABV model. I would really like to talk to you about it, is there another way to contact you directly? Could you PM me with your info, if possible? I would like to provide any other information that you may need.

one word awesome

First off let me thank all you guys and girls for your comments. As I have bean pulled form this project. I’m now geting back to trying to finish it. I do need info on some added parts, if there not classifided.

Now the info needed is not on how or what the parts are used for. I just need a clear photo of only one part. The extra tool box in the larg red circle. The small antenna box with the heavy antenna., well that a no brainer.

When it comes to the color, seeing that I have never seen the vehicle in person. I have had to use net photos to ade in my painting of th vehicle. When it comes to the the weathering, I’m not going to us any thing like WWII or any thing that’s not shown in any of the photos I’ve seen.

Now if any of you have photo showing heavy weathering of the ABV plesae show them., So I can use them in my weathering work.

So soon as I fit the neede parts I’m going to poat new photos. As for the next build of this ABV, I’m wating for a sale so I can get one more M1 to start with. "USMCGUNNY1372" I will PM othere contact info.

It looks like the exhaust deflector on the back of the left ABV (in the circle). The right ABV appears to have a couple rails in the same spot to hang the deflector on.

The closest color to CARC Middlestone (modern sand color) is Testors Model Master Sand, FS 33531.

Hay thinks Heavy for giving me the name and what it’s used for. I was thinking that same thing about the rails. Look’s like I should build with the ability to be removed. When it comes to that color I would love to repaint this bad boy, it’s just I would have a heck of a time masking this one off.

I have Testors: US Army/Marines sand #2136 as for that middlestone, I only have RAF Middlestone Tana 8157 #2052. I will look for that {Model Master Sand, FS 33531} for my next build.

I’m going to make the rails from sheet brass, as well as the mounting hangers of the exhaust deflector. I’ll get on that right now. Oh any if my build is off tell me what to fix on it…

First off, let me say that you have done an outstanding job on the ABV. I have looked through your posted history pictures. I am foaming at the mouth to get one of these. I am the lead instructor at Fort Benning for the USMC ABV school, and I want one of the models so bad. If there are any pictures that you need, as long as they are not classified, I can provide you with highly detailed pictures, markings, and labels. I work with these things on a daily basis, and love it. There are alot of my fellow Marine '72’s out there that would give almost anything to get one of these models. How can I get one? If you have any questions, please feel free to ask away. If I can’t provide information on a certain topic, I will tell you up front.

This thread might not be dead, but I understand that the body is cooling; please forgive me if this resurrection is unwelcome.

Anyways, I’m greatly impressed by your scratch-building abilities. You’ve definitely captured the ABV through your extensive conversion; truly an inspiring display of skill.

When I was a boot Marine at Ft. Knox, ABV’s were brand new there and the coolest thing on the block. The “Tangerines” (tanker/engineer-Marines) kept breaking them on the driving course because they continually challenged the A-fruit curse.

In the future, as a Tank Commander, I was lucky enough to run alongside them a few times. The operators didn’t break them with the same frequency as those at the school house, but I still got a kick out of how they treated (mistreated) their rides. My favorite ABV related memory was in Twenty Nine Palms when some stand-in ammo tech (he was like a comm-dude or something) and his droogs tried to give me a MICLIC; my Platoon Commander wouldn’t let me have it. Surely, there must have been some way to launch it off an M1A1.

Anyway, digressions aside, this build is nothing more than impressive. Please forgive my rambling and reminiscing (though “reminiscing” makes it sound like my memories are far in the past). Great job!

For the record, I never stole parts from unguarded ABVs for my M1A1.

This is a sweet build. I love it and you make me want to try building one of these animals.

Keep up the great work.
