Hello everyone,

TO get a few good ideas, here is a few Pershings done up. Just scroll down to find the tanks.

Tanx heaven also has some refrence pics on them. If you don’t mind searching a bit.

Hi Spawney,
First, let me say [#welcome].
I think it depends on what you are looking for in the kit. Detail, accuracy, ease of build?
I do have a DML M-26 that was given to me and I reworked it and it seems to be a nice kit. Also have the Tamiya kit, although I haven’t looked at it yet.
I have heard much good about Tamiya’s kit and they are usually easy to build with good detail. That particular kit has a working suspension, so if you want to put it in a diorama that may be something to keep in mind.
Hopefully there will be those that will folow up and give you more specific information[:D].
Wishing you the best on your build whichever kit you choose.

Oddly enough, the Korean war build proposal has caused me to look into the available Pershings in 1/35th scale, and I have both the Dragon and Tamiya kits. A little info on each
Dragon makes a late WWII M-26(T26E-1), with indie tracks (which are supposed to be very nice to build) and a Korean era M26A-1, also with indies (but these on are supposed to be tough to build, with seperate links and guide teeth). Details lok very good

Tamiya makes a late WWII M-26(T26E-1) that also includes 1 set of decals for a Korean War tank. This kit apparently is not suitable for just any M-26 from Korea, but just one of a handful. Fit is excellent, details are a little above the Tamiya. Kit includes 1 piece T81 tracks.

My recommendation is if you want a WWII Pershing, do Tamiya. Korean war, do Dragon. If it doesn’t matter and if price doesn’t matter, go Tamiya

1/16 tamiya rc pershing is the way to go.

Thanx for the inputs guys. I think I’ll go for the Tamiya kit.

i did the tamiya 1/35 and it was great…

For a WW II vehicle leave off the interphone located on the right rear fender as this was a post war addition. The Tamiya kit has the correct large ventilator (don’t know about the Dragon kit) but I am not sure on the travel lock, to my knowledge none of the vehicles with the trvel lock attached directly to the exhaust went overseas but had one attache to the rear plate with seperate brackets. Most of the ones in Korea had the travel lock mounted on the engine deck and also had slightly wider and different style track and sprocket.

I’ve done many Tamiya and Dragon kits and the Korean War Dragon M26A-1 indie tracks stink.
If you get this kit, buy some aftermarket tracks and add a few years to your life.
The rest of the kit, in my opinion, is a pretty good kit.
Even doing a few at a time throughout the entire building process, it is a tedious and
overly time consuming job compared to some of the other Dragon kits.

176 track links
176 guide horns
FOR THE PURIST:
352 ejector pin blemishes to clean up, wedged between the cleats.
352 roller pin holes to drill ( 704 if you really want to do both sides)

yes the tamiya kit is the way to go but if you want a interesting kit use accuate amror conversion to make a super pershing a real eye catcher .

I still have my super pershing conversion on order for 2 months now, I have built the tamyia 1/35 and 1/16th. both great both with workable suspenssion. my friend is doing the dragon and he he cursing it up and down. So ya go tamiya.

the Dragon kits great, it went together well and the T26 tracks were great
ive got 2 of the Tamiya kits, after i got the first one i had to get another one for a Super Pershing conversion
you should go for the Tamiya Pershing, its easier to find and has Working suspention

anyone make a 1:72 pershing?

Try http://www.patton-mania.com/index.html, this is an excellent site for all things Pershing and Patton.

Take a look at this site for reference photos, and other tanks. http://www.naritafamily.com/Scalemodel/reference/patton/photo_frame.htm
