M-110 Complete

Here are some pictures (poor ones) of my completed M-110 for your viewing. Comments are always welcome. Please keep in mind I am not an armor guy.

Nice looking piece of artillery! I have been trying to find one of those kits but they have become quite expensive on Ebay. Nice job.

Thanks for the compliment. Had I known they were selling at a good price I would have sold it and bought some more aircraft. [:P]

Good to see this ‘classic’ built up. Nice pre-shading on yours and generally, came out very, very nice! You aircraft guys (especially C-130 types) are a-ok!

Ahhh…the classics…an M110A2…brings back memories [:D]

Nice work on the shading. wethering is light yet welldone. Great work for someone working on a change of pace. Tracks well done, especially dealing with the Italeri rubber bands.

Rounds Complete!!

I will echo what the others have said. It came out loking really good. Great job on a classic piece.

Those red and yellow squares you put on the gun tube are called Military Vehicle Delineators (MVDs) and came into use in the late 1980s with the US Army Europe. They are used to mark the rear corners of the vehicles with the yelow portions to the outside. They are basically reflective stickers so Hermann the German doesn’t run into the back of your tank during periods of darkness (military taillights are rather dim). I like your build. I used to pity the 8" crews during winter manuevers freezing their butts off on that track.

Wow…thanks for the kind words on this one everyone. As was pointed out it was kinda a diversion, keeps me from getting burnt out so to speak. It was pretty simple to build and I did enjoy it other than painting all those road wheels.

Didn’t know about the MVD’s. I just thought the kit was a little bland so I took them and stuck them on [:$] Yeah the tracks were a real treat to do [;)] but I think they cam out ok. I did use some thread to snug them down a bit as the pictures I saw showed them lower than they were when installed on the kit.

I have a couple of other arty peices in my stash to pull out when I feel the urge. I have the M109 and the Dragon MRLS. I will get around to doing them one of these days.

Thanks again for looking!

I too like the shading and I must say for an A/C builder, you have Dark Side talent.

Very nice. I’ve got a 15 year old M-110 kit in my stash along with an M-109. When I was a DIVARTY S4 we had 3 M-109 battalions and am M-110 battery. The 8" battery was reorganized into an MLRS battery. When I overdose on WWII German armor, I’ll dig them out.

Again, very well done even if you aren’t an armor guy.

Very nice bit of work there!

Holy smoke! That is a beast! Well done on the ground pounder.

Cheers

Dave

Thanks again for all the kind words everyone. I am sure I will be doing some more dabbling in the powers of the dark side here in the near future.

Doing road wheels are a pain but they sure beat masking and messing with canopies, but like any good habit I just can’t put them down.

[Y][Y] Nice job enjoyed the pics.Ron

Nice work on the big gun! Be careful, the dark side can be very appealing once you get a taste of it. [B]

To paraphrase the words of Yoda…canopies lead to anger, anger leads to armor, and armor leads to the dark side.

NOTE TO SELF: I will have to be strong against this temptation the armor guys call the dark side.

Very nice build! The shading looks very good. Nnate

“My that’s a big gun you have!”

“The better to blast the crap outta you”

To paraphrase the words of Yoda…canopies lead to anger, anger leads to armor, and armor leads to the dark side.

Heed those words or you will be adding tracks to you to Herc in your avatar like I did to my winged nut.

Why not… the Herc can already do just about any task in the inventory. Heck the one in my picture has skis on it, so treads should not be a problem[;)]

WOW! Really nice job. Clapping Hands

T(h)anksTank 2 for taking a break from aircraftPlane 1 and coming over to our side!
