LVTA5 Modified Walkaround

This LVTA5 Modified has recently been returned to the Assault Amphibian School Battalion to be placed back in the WWII Korea LVT Museum located on Camp Del Mar, Camp Pendleton, Ca… It was on loan to participate in the filming of the upcoming movie Flags of Our Father’s, based on the book with the same title.

This variant of the LVTA5 didn’t actually debut until 1949, so for those nit picky folks it will be out of place assaulting a WWII beach head, but there are probably few that would notice. Plus it looks more attractive in the camoflage than in its authentic monotone dark green scheme.

Before being put back in the museum a couple repairs need to occur, replacing a track block connector, as well as replacing the spark plugs. So this allowed me a great opportunity to snap some shots while it is basking in the sun.

Enjoy

Nice! I love AmTracs.

Very nicely covered - all the features… Anyone remember the “vote for the ugliest armor” thread? I would say this is one ugly bugger! But, I like the ugly ones more than the sleek and slick…
