Lufty's N1K1 'Kyofu'

Hi all, here is my finished build for the ‘War in the Pacific GB’. The kit is from Tamiya and is motorised. How cool is that? It was one of those kits i spotted in my LHS that cried out ‘Buy me’.

I decided to go the very heavy worn look. This was achieved by 1stly spraying the entire upper airframe with Alclad airframe alluminium, then coating the Alclad with Tamiya clear. That stuff sets like concrete which allows the next step of scraping off the top coat to reveal the ally. I also used Humrol masking fluid to remove larger splotches. Anyhoo, here she is, theres more pics at the GB. Its really worth a look as theres some great stuff being built,

Amazing… you are truly talented! [bow]

I like the technique for creating the chipped paint. I will have to try it on the next Japanese plane I build.

Big thumbs up for Guy! [tup] Spectacular build!

Beautiful!!! I like the subject and weathering! came out great!!!

congratulations Guy on this new build!!! best regards

Jeremias

Guy thats gourgus! Excelent in all . That pontoon must have caused a hell of a drag, its huge! Thanks for sharing with us…Harv

Outstanding work here! You’ve got a good touch for weathering, something I could use a few classes in. Thanks for showing us how it’s done right.

Here is that same bird the day she rolled out of the factory.

Guy you are a machine!!! That looks great mate!!! And so quick!! Absoluteley beautiful work![bow][tup][#toast]

She is a real cracker Guy! The weathering is spot on and very realistic. Very well done. Now report back to the Regia Aeronautica GB before I send Sarge after you![oX)] Rumor has it that there is a litttle Italian biplane making a solo flight over the Atlantic to England as we speak. Destination unknown.[:)]

Thx everyone. I really appreciate the comments. I was tempted to go even further but im sort of glad i didnt. I still may do a zero with bare metal like this famous pic,

Thx again,

…Guy

Go even farther with the weathering? NO!!! It’s perfect the way it is!!! I mentioned in a post elsewhere that age old adage, it takes two artists to paint a picture, one to paint and one to tell him when to stop. STOP!!! Do the Zero, start fresh with a new canvas!!!

Excellent work there, Guy!

Nicely done Guy [tup]. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

Got a picture showing it in action??

Nicely done. I like the finish. I wonder if the seaplanes took as much abuse as the land based ones did though.

Oooh! I like it. You should prep your model better before you paint though, it’s peeling all over [:-^]

Guy that is sharper 'n Resse Witherspoon’s chin! Chipping looks great.

‘Good god man, is there anything you cant do’ ???

Luft that is an amazing finish mate, truly is remarkable. Wethering is a big challenge for me cause I never really know when enough is enough or have I done too little. I’m in ore mate.

Great pics as well

Lenny[tup]

Guy I’m still amazed at the workmanship and fisnishing skills you have.

Jason

Well, it’s about time! You haven’t finished a kit in what, like a week??? [%-)]

Tell Wingus and Dingus they done a fine job as always. Love that chipping, DEFINATELY gonna try the Tammy clear when I go about it next time! [:D]

As for the photo of that Zero, is that chipping, or a darker green over the Ame-Iro? Usually, the Zeroes didn’t chip much (especially the early ones) as they had a very tough primer under the color coats. Just my [2c].

Well done Guy! [^]
