This is the kit which formed the basis of Dragon’s older Panther “G” series kits. The cast metal (and most of the etch) parts and MK tracks were replaced with normal styrene parts. While it was a cutting-edge kit in the mid-late 80’s, it has been surpassed by more recent kits.
Does it require zimm? If it represents an early “G”, I would say yes.
I built the StuG from the same series which I think was also used in some of the early Dragon molds. It went together great, had no problem with all the metal and pe bits. Bugger weighs a ton though!!

Good luck with, can’t wait to see what you can do with it!
I’m not sure of the pound to dollar exchange rate, but you paid nearly £50 including shipping for an older kit that has been replaced by newer versions that retail for less than $50 USD.
I might be wrong, but isn’t that $80? Seems like alot for ANY kit.

The Gunze Sanyo kits were state of the art in the '80’s and early '90’s, but they are over-engineered by today’s standards and the mixed-media in them can be tedious at times to assemble, especially the white metal parts…in their day it was common for them to retail for $150 to $300 depending on the kit…If you are a collector, you may have gottten a good deal…if you just wanted to build an accurate Panther, you probably should have gone with the DML Panther…
Thx all for your opinions. The money wasnt really the issue. Ive seen them go for a lot more, and I dont just buy to horde (Anymore than the rest of us [:-^] You know who you are with your 300+ stash) I buy with the intention to build. I see what your saying with regard to buying a DML kit for half the money. Theres something about these kits with all the white metal and multimedia nature of them that really gets the juices going. For me anyhow.
The shape is pretty accurate as far as i can see. Hopefully it will turn out ok. Id like to be a little more positive on the zimm issue. As an Ausf G i think it could be Zimmless or could be zimmed. Ill have to do some research.

Holy cow! That’s a lot of money, man! [:O] Is that what kits are going for over there across the pond???
If so, I think it would be cheaper for you to fly over here, buy a mountain of stuff, and fly back. Yikes!
It’s your money to do with as you wish. I am a kit collector and have bought kits that I know aren’t as good as recent kits just to round out the collection (I do refrain from paying collector’s prices though). Since you eluded to the fact that you bought this to build, I thought I’d mention that you spent more for an old collectable kit than you would for a newer, more accurate kit of the same subject matter.
But if you just wanted the challenge of building one of those multi-media kits, go for it. Compared to the original MSRP, you got it for a bargin. The Gunze Sangyo kits went for $140 on average back in the day.
Ditto…as far as accuracy, I believe they build up to be very accurate…as far as zimm, if it is the early G w/o the “chin” on the mantlet it would most likely have zimm…if it has the chin then you could certainly go zimmless…
$140 !!! That was a bargain—I remember this kit going for the $250 range…
I’m glad you made that post about the late G not having “zimm”. Did any them have it?

I feel the same way when seeing these kits they may not be the latest and greatest but i love the challenge of some older kits especially the muiltimedia ones, i lol’ed when i saw you ebay name [(-D]
Thx all. This is probably the only Gunze Sangyo Multi media kit ill build. So its worth the price in a way. Ive followed several other GS MM kits on Evil bay and I got this one cheap in comparison. £45 uk is a fair bit of cash, given. But considering it cost £40 to fill my cars tank. Its not too bad.
I will get a lot of fun out of building the thing though. Which is the main thing, Right?
As for my E##y name, Ron. It comes from a fantastic TV series that ran here a few years back, called ‘Father Ted’. Theres not many TV shows that make me laugh out loud, but this did, every episode.

P.S Just for you Ron
Nope–absolutley one of the worst-fitting, inaccurate kits you can buy.
You better not even open it, as you will be crushed with disappointment–just send it along to me so I can dispose of it properly for you…[:-^]
[swg]…[(-D]
Like you I buy to build. I to have seen these kits and the multimedia does get me thinking of buying one as well. Just never coughed up the dead presidents for one.
I LOL’d when I seen your ebay user name. Heck, I am still smiling about it.
Thank You
When you build it I will watch progress that way if I do end up with one I know how to build the little monster.
Np Doog, Thanks for putting me right. Just send me your addy and its on its way. Thanks heavens for decent minded chaps like yourself. LOL.
