That’s awesome Mucker! [tup][tup][tup] Maybe it’s time to break in my 7 year old. I’ve spent the last couple of weeks playing a very loooong game of axis and allies with him but it was a blast and he is totally into it. The only thing holding me back with getting him into models is that he’s a very destructive kid. I know that if I build something with him it will take about five minutes for it to be involved in a “battle” in his room and end up in pieces. Better make his first build an inflight model with gear up and propeller blades removed! [(-D]
Very nice!
My two-year-old is showing a lot of interest in “daddy’s airplanes,” but I think he’s still too young to help me build one. Maybe in another year. ![]()
Regards,
Thanks again, everyone. This was a real fun one
Dave I think it’s cool that you take the time out like that to spend with your son. It’s not so much about what you did, but that you spent the time together. I think kids remember that when they get older.
How is Axis and Allies? I’ve seen it before in the stores…maybe my 9 year old would be interested…
I definately recommend giving a father/son model build a try (propellers optional!). For me this was the most relaxing build yet. I didn’t worry about seams, fit, accuracy, etc. It was all about the boy having fun. To see him beam with pride when he showed Mom was one of those “priceless” moments.
Charles, I’m sure your son will be following in his daddy’s footsteps and building great models. It definitely looks like he’s off to a great start! My 4 year old daughter wanted her own model after seeing Daddy work on his, so I gave her an oldie of mine (a P-40, no less[:)]) which she added her own special touch to.

Cool. Keep his interest up. As time goes by and he gets older, both of you, in fact your whole family will treasure his build. He shows talent and imagination. [tup][tup]. Don’t let this model find a hiding place, it is a treasure that should be displayed.

Axis and Allies is a great board game. I bought it more for my older son who is now 13 and we all enjoy it. The only problem is it takes a long time to play, especially if your new at it. So basically you have to set it up somewhere and be able to leave it set up for several days so that you can come back to it after taking a break. Most 7 yr olds don’t have the attention span for it but mine spends hours having battles in his bedroom with his little green army men and the legos so it is right up his alley. a nine year old would probably get right into it. Once you get the hang of it they say you can pobably finish a game in an evening (but not if you’re playing with a 7 yr old [;)]).
