I’m building Bruno Loerezer’s aircraft from the wonderful 1/48 Eduard kit.
I have PE parts that should be on the wings, like braces for the wires. I also have upper wing rediator parts, but it’s clear that these should go on last.
I dont know if the braces on the real aircraft were covered by the lozenge camo or was it on top of it. So what sould I do, place the PE’s first and then put on the lozenge decal, or vise versa?

Put the lozenge decals on first. The lozenge was actually printed on the fabric that covered the wings.

However, I’d like to add that in the instructions there are two different camo’s for this praticular aircraft. An early version without lozenge, light blue undersurface and green and violet upper surfaces, both at the lower and upper wings.
and the later version with lozenge. So maybe, the “older” wings were wraped with the lozenge fabric??
I must admitt that doing the way you suggest seems to be very difficult, placing PE parts with CA over a decal[%-)], hmm… sounds like a recipe for disaster…
Getting the decals over the PE parts, in particular over the horns will be tricky too! Drew is absolutely right. The only thing I’d do differently is using wood glue instead of CA glue. The CA glue will simply tack the PE and decal together and that bond will not be any better than the one I obtain with wood glue.
In the real world the horns actually come through the fabric but the fabric is treated to avoid any fraying of the threads of the fabric.
Well, then I’d like to show you what I plan to do.
First paint the wing in a color that is a close match to one of the lozenge colors, perhaps midume green or tan. then gloss coat. Paint the PE’s in RLM 02 grey green color, seperatly. after the gloss coat is dry put the decals. and another gloss, maybe semi gloss coat to seal everything. then put the PE’s (and hope for best…)
OR!
Put the PE’s on the wing first, then paint them RLM 02. mask them paint the wing green or tan, like above, gloss coat. put the decals on, and another gloss or semi gloss coat. cut the decal with a very fresh nomber 11 blade, around the PE’s and remove the decal and maskings.
What do you think?
an even easier solution would be to do the earlier version of the plane (alb dv i believe). That way you dont have to worry about the lozenge. But if you want to do the lozenge version, make sure you plan out exactly what you want to do beforehand to avoid possible complications like having to excessively patch/paint areas of the lozenge.
