Hey all - Being mainly a fixed wing modeler, I am not very familiar with helicopter kits, so I need your advice.
I’m looking to build a Viet Nam era UH-1 in 1/72 scale, maybe two or three in their different variants (Slick, Dust Off, Attack). What kits would you recommend that also have good A/M detail sets available?
Italeri has slick and gunship Huey’s in 1/72nd scale, Hasagawa has some slick kits, no one is doing any Dust-Off birds in 1/72nd scale but you could convert the slicks to medivacs
Thanks John - Do you know if there are any aftermarket PE sets available for the finer details? I’m thinking especially in terms of the weapons on the gunship version.
I suppose I could scratch my own stretchers and such for a Dust-Off if I could get some good pics for reference.
If you find some good pics and/or referrences for the interior of the Dust off hueys please let me know. I’m doing a UH-1B “Dust Off” slick, specificall Maj. Kelly’s aircraft.
Check out the web site for the “Dust Off Association”. There are plenty of pictures, but not of the interior.
Geejeez,
Is the Revell medivac interior accurate? The Revell 1/72nd scale kit may be worth getting just for the information, eg layout, equipment, etc. of the medi-vac huey. The Revell kit looks like it is a D or H model huey, but the set up for medi-vac should be fairly comparable to the B model. (I think) rangerj
