Calling all reference fanatics…
Does anyone have, or know where I can find some pics of a TA-152C-0 or a FW190D-15? I have scoured my somewhat limited library, and tried a google search but am coming up short. I purchased a Trimaster TA-152C-0 kit and a High Planes(?) FW-190D-15 conversion kit but can’t find much to substantiate them. ANY help would be greatly appreciated!
I’ll be out of town (and away from a computer) for a couple of days, so I apologize in advance if anyone posts here and I don’t return it immediately.
Daywalker unless some new info has surfaced about the D-15 You’re not going to find a pic of one because they never produced it. Now I have not looked into this for quite a while but to my knowledge the D-15 was a proposed 190D varient to be built around the beefed up DB603 power plant (I think, memory getting weak). It most likely would have looked similar to her siblings the D-11/12/13. Like those with a different set of buldges, bumps, and blisters to house yet a different engine and armerment set up. The luftwaffe loved to throw whatever that had into an airframe and just hammer out new sheet metal around it to fit the added junk[:)]. I am aware that a book has been written with updated info on this subject. I have not read it as of yet, so it’s quite possible new info or a pic have been found.
Now your C-0, The only one I know of is prototype code C1 XM. To my knowledge this varient never left the prototype phase. The only pic I have of it is this one right now. as I get more of my archive on my pc I may have 2 others.

and since you like odd ball reich aircraft here are few the allies were glad to see never took off in any numbers.

Check out this heavily worked over D-9. Note the gun hood and spinner and wing armerment. But it does have the standered D-9 engine (exhaust, intake and lack of buldges make it obivous Not a D-11) This thing looks like it’s packing 2x machine guns in the hood, 1x 30mm in the nose, 4x 20 mm cannons in the wings. This was most likely used against ground forces in the western front. That’s alot of lead going in one direction. Also interesting to note this example has every antenna installed on it. usually you see at least one missing.
Thanks for those pics, that is what I was looking for! What is that FW with the P-51 style radiatorand 4 blade prop? Is it an FW-190D crossed with the parts from a P-51? The exhaust looks like that from a MiG-3. I’ve never seen anything like it.
Nop, no mustang parts on that bad boy. It’s nasty looking 190’s isn’t it. That is a FW190V-13. This aircraft was part of the Ta 152 program. Desinged as a high altitude intercepter/fighter. Wkmr. 0036 and coded SK+JS it was converted from a A-0. it’s powered by a turbo supersharged DB603A(hence all the duct work). The luftwaffe air screws were far more efficent and worked better at higher alt than anything the allies had at the time. the prop on this example is very close to the one planed for the 109K-14. Not quite as effictive the paddle blade prop found on the ta 152 at very high altitudes but operated better at a variety of alt and engine speeds for that engine set up. The surface area of the Ta prop plays a good part of what gives it is fast acceleration, rate of climb, and high service ceiling. probably more info than you wanted hun.
BTW this aircraft in the pic is not fully equipted. No turbo was installed on the prototype pictured. I had those 190C pics and these in the same file and just though I would share them you guys.
Daywalker got some info on your D-15 today. The D-15 was a d-9 with a 152 tail and a 152c nose. 2 examples may have been built. It might have carried 4 mk108 cannons 2 in each wing. This would have made it necessary to have buldges over the outer wing cannons and shell ejectors below. The one pic known of this varient is subject to some debate. It’s work number 500645 badly damaged and seems to have reich defence bands of JG2 or JG6? It is thought to be a D-9 “wide tail” not a D-15. I was unable to obtain this pic thus far. this should help you get idea of what your building. If I get A pic I’ll post it.
For some great pics of your Ta-152C (some new one’s I’ve never seen before) check out Dietmar Harmann book Focke-Wulf Ta 152. I just got this not too long ago. If you like the Ta series this book is great. I know alot about operational reich fighters but there EX stuff is yet another thing. you could make a career out of all the toys the luftwaffe had.
Phoenix-
Thanks for taking the time to look for that info for me, I really appreciate it! I remember seeing that book on the Ta-152 at my LHS, think I may go buy it this week. Thanks again for the tip!
