Looking for Model C-133 Cargomaster

I’ve been looking all over for a C-133 Cargomaster model. Because I haven’t come up with anything except bad looking wood replicas (I can’t believe they ask so much for this). I’m hoping that someone out there might know of a company/site that might help me track a model of this down. At this moment scale isn’t my main concern.

thanks!

Some time ago I recall seeing an ad in an old FSM for a vacuum formed kit. Page through the ads at the back of the magazines and check out the obscure ads. Sometimes you can find the hard to find models, such as discontinued kits. I know this isn’t a huge help but I don’t have any of my old mags right handy.

Two different FineScale issues had C-133s submitted into their Reader Gallery section:

June 1987, page 61
March 1993, page 70

If you had those issues you might be able to see who modelled them and/or who made the kit. I don’t have the issues, sorry.

Good luck,

Rich W

Thanks (Klem & RichW) so much for the input. I will press my research skills a little harder and come up with something. This project is for a family member (gift) who crewed the 133 during Vietnam. I hoping to come up with something without scratch-building everything. Thanks

My Dad, a Viet Nam vet, calls the C-133 “Ol’ Shakey”. Because of the “nice” ride! If you find the kit maybe you can call it that.

There’s a vacform in 1/144, made by Welsh Models. I don’t know if Squadron stock it, if not try www.welshmodels.co.uk or Hannants on www.hannants.co.uk

I haven’t built one, but if it’s like any of Welsh Models other recent kits it should go together well, it’ll be fairly accurate, and it’ll have good decals.

I thought I saw one advertised in FSM about 5 years ago or so.

If I recall correcty, it was 1/72 (vac form and white metal) and I think it was made by Koster

Russell Brown handles Welsh kits. Matter of fact, he’s getting some white metal detail sets for Welsh’s JetStream 41 so I can use the props on another modification. If Welsh has the C133, he should be able to get it. I think he advertises in FSM. If not, I’ll add his info below.
