Looking for info about Pz II ausf f/g

I’m currently working on this old Tamiya kit and wanted to build this kit to represent an Afrika Korps tank. My question is: do I add the turret storage bin (I’d really rather not for aesthetic reasons) to a DAK version? I personally think the tank looks better without but didn’t want to yank it off if desert tanks had this feature. The kit references are confusing as they show the G version with storage bin on the box art but the painting instructions show the F version with the DAK decals!
I don’t have any other references to clear this up. Any help/advice appreciated…

I don’t think they did much research on the Tamiya kit because the G version is very similar to the Ausf. L Luchs, so totally different to earlier versions.

Yeah, I knew I was in for “fun” when I saw the holes in the bottom for the on/off switch and the battery holders inside. But hey! What’s life without challenges?!?

Well, I’ve posted them many times before, but what the heck…Here’re some pics of my Tamiya IIG. It was a fun (though expensive) build.
